I took my EX manual trans to my Honda Dealer today. The Honda Tech told me they're fixing the push start button for FREE!!!!!! Nope that's not a misprint. It's getting fixed for no charge. There's a recall on EX and EX-L Fits because the push start buttons are going bad on these 3rd Gen Fits going back to 2015. When yours goes out make sure your Honda Dealer will fix it for Free. If they charge you ask the mechanic about a code number for the free fix. The Tech may or may not know the code. When I get my Fit back from my Honda Dealer I'll post the code number in this post. I'm getting my car on December 12th.
That is good news.....although I'm glad I have an old-school key to stick into the ignition switch....the push button seems to be problematic....do other manufacturers have the same problem, or is it a "Honda thing"?

Me too! Though I'd hate myself if I should lose one of the keys (considering the remote is on the key as well). I imagine the replacement cost is abhorrent.
My 14 year old Lexus IS350 had it's original push button setup since new. Seems strange that Honda's would need replacement so soon
Here's the Service Bulletin for anyone interested. It covers 2015-2017 / 125,000 miles. Keep in mind this is a warranty extension, not a recall. Inquire about this warranty extension to a service advisor at a dealership.
Great info, posts like these add value to this forum. Thanks!
Happy to help out fellow Fit owners. Especially with a major issue like this. And it's FREE!!!!! I got my Fit back this past Saturday. No charge. Now my Fit starts on the first try. No more pushing the start button a 1000 times before it starts.
If your EX / EX-L Fit takes 2 or more push starts before it starts take it to your local Honda dealer immediately! Don't wait. It's only going to get worse. Then it will take 3 push starts, then 4, then 5, and more and more.
I'm old fashion. Since when do you need to go to the dealer to replace the push start? Get a buddy to help out so long as it's not a CVT.
For the push start issue,
The dealer can get the parts I need. They install the parts and guarantee everything works. And it's all FREE!!!!!!
Just so you know what I mean by "Push Start" it's the ignition push start button inside the car.

On the EX with the keyless ignition, while the engine is running, can you turn the engine off without turning the accessories off? Or is the only way to get into the accessories mode to turn the car off first and then press the start button without pressing the brake/clutch?

This is awesome news. Calling my dealer tomorrow. Thanks y'all
I have a 2015 EXL and the light on my dash started to go on in November 2020 .. was somewhat interminit ..I was think the battery replacement might have had something to do with it .... it was on most of December.... Went to the Dealer .. Jerk Service Desk guy started giving me a hard time ... I took the Service bulletin to the Service manager ... he was good with it (as long as someone is paying the bill he says) .... going in to have the switch replaced ..

I'm not aware of any other manufacturer with this issue. I have experience with Ford, VW, and Honda and can tell you that Ford and VW do not have this problem. Friends with a few Ford techs and this subject has never even been mentioned. Plenty of problems, don't get me wrong, but not this one.
Two other problems that Ford does not have are carbon deposits or fuel dilution. Fuel injector issues are also rarer with Ford, but do happen. Just seemingly less often than with DI Honda's.
Edited to add - a simple button failing though is a super easy fix. Not a big deal. Still WELL worth it to have the convenience of true keyless. It's really nice to be able to leave the fob in your pocket (or purse for women) and never have to give the key a single thought. Every time I drive our GD, I get in and then realize I forgot to get the key out of my pocket. D'oh!!!
Our friends were supposed to meet us for lunch today. They made a stop along the way. When restarting, the pushbutton fell into the dash. Infiniti QX50. Tow truck ensued.
We just had this done on our 2015 Fit EX-L and it STILL doesn't turn on right away. They said the starter is failing and would cost $1000 to replace. Does this seem right?
