Have you a Painted Hood?

Has anyone painted the center the section of their hood? There seems to be a natural ridge running down both edges of the hood that continues to below the grill and meets the other side. The new Mk V GTI also has a similar detail and I've seen many owner paint (decal) their hoods with a contrasting color. To me, it seems like a natural styling design that gives the Fit a cool accent. It would make it look low and mean.

Please post pics if you've done it.

Here's one picture:

It's not a great picture but enough to show the idea.

Yes! I was thinking about carrying it around the grill as well, but your's looks great as is. The black-on-red certainly looks mean. My BOM is due in April but this might be my first mod.

Fittogo, is that paint? What did it cost, if you don't mind me asking?

A lot of people like doing this with CF hoods...they paint the sides and leave the center CF...

This is what I'm hoping to achieve. Were I to go the CF route, the grill would be painted and look different. So, what do you think of this look?

That Jazz belongs to my friend (RedJazzy) in Manila and the hood is painted High Gloss Black. It does not cost that much.

That's cool. I hope he does mind me blackening his grill.

My BOM Fit is on order. I need to decide what color would be good. Maybe a bright silver, the Element-color root beer metallic (or darker), or maybe the prismatic paint that's browns and greens. Any ideas?

Here's another photochopped picture. This time it's a BOM with rootbeer hood. I really liking this. Any other opinions?

It does. I'm thinking of putting out some feelers for a good paint shop in the Seattle area. Is there such a thing as Candy Rootbeer?
