Hello from Baghdad
Hello from Baghdad
What's up? Just figured I'd stop and register after browsing through Honda-Tech for a bit. Let's see...where to begin. I'm a 21 year old Army grunt out in Baghdad right now. Originally from Detroit, MI, but I'm movin back home to Bakersfield, CA after this tour is over. Owned quite a few Nissans and a few Hondas back in the day. Right now I've got an '06 350Z base for my track car. My first purchase back in the states, besides alcohol will be an '08 Fit Sport. I plan on using it as the grocery getter/show car.
Hopefully I can make a few meets this upcoming summer and get to know more people in the Socal/Midstate area.

Welcome to the forum. You'll love the Fit as a daily driver! This forum has a lot of great information. I joined in February and got my car in May.Felt like I learned alot from the guys and gals on this site by the time I drove the car off the lot. Keep us up on your tour of duty and stay safe.

Have you seen the reviews of the 2009 due out next year?I love my Mt fit ,I used to complain about the price of gas before I bought it.However it is true that the idea of a Tweaked Fit by the Honda engineers that gives better performance and that tiny bit of Hp,most of us would I believe say is on the occasion most welcome. If you can wait till next spring/summer?,you might consider it. Thank you for your service.....Stephen
Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
I'm actually going with the AT w/paddle shifters. I test drove both models and actually ended up liking the paddle shifters more than I thought I would. The car will definitely be black with more than likely bronze wheels. A majority of my money will be focused on the interior. Nothing too flashy, I prefer low profile, especially now living in California.
I'm definitely down for an all Cali meet, assuming I'm home in time for it. I missed quite a few big meets with my car club in Detroit thanks to being over here. I'd be nice to meet other Fit owners and pick their brains.
As for the 2009 Fit...I will have to test drive it first. I really liked the exterior. I was a big fan of the EP3. If I end up liking the '09 better, I may go with it instead of an '08. Time will tell.
As far as being here. Thanks for the well wishes. Believe me we do appreciate everything that everyone in the states does for us. It really does mean alot to have your support. As I'm sure anyone who's watched CNN recently knows, we got the shit hammered out of us last night. 2 dead and 38 wounded. These ****ers just love dropping mortars and firing rockets into our base on a regular basis.
