40+
40+
42.55 mpg!!!
I have a 2007 Fit 5spd Sport Manual with about 9.6k on it.
I have been driving close to the speed limit which is 60mph (I have been driving 5mph over......I usually go 10-25mph over on 378 to sumter but I only get like 31-34mpg).
I use 87 octane and find the cheapest gas station that I can to fill up.
I have been starting from a stop in 2nd gear - is this bad for the tranny???
I have been accelerating kinda slow not so heavy on the pedal.
I have been coasting when ever possible(with in reason).
I inflated my tires to 40psi (the tires say max is 50psi and the manual suggests 33psi.........i want some traction!)
It has taken me about 5-10min longer to get to work(~65miles one way).............is it worth it.........well I am not in a hurry and I don't get stressed or pissed at the slow people since I am one of them! lol! I am just curios how many mpg I can get if I actually drive the speed limit like this(self control is week with this one). I will hopefully stay right at the speed limit this tank and see what I get.

Even slow lane is 70+ most of the time. For some reason that is the normal "flow of traffic". Cop might pull one over if it is doing 60
clutch?
Bad for the clutch! I don't see how that will help MPG. The rest of the stuff seems cool.

Can the Fit even go 90 lol, jk..Yeah 680 is perfect for that!
Now my mpg is fluctuating, why:
After my 42.5 mpg I drove the speed limit(more conservative than before) and only achieved 38.7mpg which makes no sense. However, I did fill up at two different gas stations. So, I was pissed thinking I really didn't get 42.5. So, for the next tank(after the 38.7mpg) I drove like a jackass and doing 80-85 and not coasting and accelerating how ever I felt and got 36.4mpg. I think I need to include that I now have 10,000 miles on the car and just changed my oil to the Mobile 1 15,000 mile oil and the extended life Mobile 1 oil filter(~$40). So, I fill up today and calculated 39.99mpg.........I drove 70mph and shifted from 3-3.5k range during that tank. I am pleased with that. So, I wonder if it is the oil, the mileage(motor finally giving up what it should), or gas station variation(meaning the pump cut off, length of the gas pump nossel, uncalibrated pumps). In order to eliminate these I will try and use the same gas station and try and use the same gas pump. I guess one thing worth mentioning is that the lower you are on gas(less gas means less weight) you would achieve better gas mileage but is it significant enough. I usually fill up when I get either the gas light or around an 1/8 to 1/4 tank left(depending on where I am and how far I have to travel)
