Honda confirms new NSX for 2010!

http://www.autospies.com/news/Honda-...or-2010-24561/

Yay yay yay!!!
Im happy we finally got confirmation that they ARE doing the NSX. But they are going to have there hands full to beat the 2009 GTR. It may be impossible to beat the GTR overall. We will wait and see though.

That is great! I have always wanted an NSX as my ultimate car and now I can start saving! WOOT!

That concept design has got to go though.

I don't think the '10 NSX will come anywhere near the GT-R...it'll be great car though...I'd put it in a competitive range around the standard Corvette and 911's...GT-R is mixing it up with Vipers, Z06s, 911 GT's, etc.

Your probaly right, but i cant see it priced lower then the GTR which is starting at 69K. Well maybe it will start at 65k but still who would go for that if its not as fast as the GTR. maybe we are all wrong lol, well see.

i bet lots of people would. the GTR is outperforming 911's now but do you think thats going to keep people from buying a lesser (if you can even call it that) performing and much more expensive 911? Nope!

its all about how you view the brand and what you want to represent i guess. that means a lot to some people.

For example, if price was no concern i'd probably get an nsx over the gtr.

I agree with what was said about it competing with the entry level corvettes and porsches....and maybe a type r will be along afterward!

at any rate, we really don't know what to expect just yet, for all we know it could blow the doors off of ALL of these cars and STILL be cheaper.

Hopefully it has a MANUAL transmission option.

i agree. although i will say that out of all the automakers out there it seems that honda/acura has been very good about being true to their roots and always offering a manual.

all i can say is V10??? this will definitely be a fast car, considering the last engine was a V6, with 300 horses, not taking anything away from it cuz it was still considered one of the best within its class back in the day...but i cant wait to see the track times once its fully developed...

*Yawn* a "new" NSX has been promised since the late 90's and all we got was new headlights. I'll believe this when I see it.

Also there is some interpretation confusion between Honda and the press. Because the general appreciation and respect people have for the NSX; they are quick to interpret anything from Honda as the "next" NSX. The ASCC concept they showed is a front engine car, the NSX is a mid-engine. Any front engine car is NOT a "next gen" NSX imo, it can however be designated as a "replacement", but should not be tagged as "next gen" as most people in the media tend to.

Unless the Honda boys have some super secret mid-engine car that no one has heard a peep about, the chances of a "next gen" NSX anytime soon is slim.

And one more thing, the photo on the website is old. This same ASCC you see here has been taken back to be "redesigned" as per Honda due to the lack luster response (ugly). People were expecting lighting to strike twice because the NSX was such a looker of a car from day one. Proof of this is the NSX's basic design that has been around for almost 20 years and still looks good without looking stale or dated.

When they showcased this concept, the majority of the press and people responded with a resounding yawn. Yeah the specs look good on paper, but the car sure doesn't. Hence some of the marketing spin you will hear about them looking more for a GT type car like an Aston Martin instead of a pure sports car like a Ferrari (which the NSX was designed to compete with)

So to date there are no new pictures of a "redesigned" version. The only thing people have seen are test mules running on a stretched S2K body and nothing more.

The truth is Honda is hurting from a halo car standpoint. With Nissan's GT-R going on sale next year, and the Lexus (Toyota) LF-1 probably a year later. Honda has nothing but a couple empty shell (not well recieved) concept cars and a stack of press releases with dates that keep getting pushed back. They are trying to hold on to the NSX aura for as long as they can because its all they have, hence the comments about the "next" NSX.

Not meant to dash people's dreams but just letting people know not to get their hopes up. Much like most of the NSX community, anticipation for the next-gen NSX has been reduced to a wait and see.

I still like the HSC concept from 2003 the best.

I actually think the new NSX will be faster than the GT-R. It will be slower in a straight line for sure but faster around a curcuit because of better balance and cornering ability. I am expecting this v10 to make at least 500 hp and probably over 350ft/tq.

I will also go ahead and think that the redline will be somewhere north of 8000rpms.

Looking forward to it lapping under 1 minute at Tsukuba :)

Only Honda knows for sure if and when will they release new NSX.

Keeping in their purist Honda tradition, it will be very lightweight, extremely aerodynamic without huge spoilers to reduce drag, but with very efficient diffuser, rear wheel drive, normally aspirated 4 to 4.5 liter V8 at best reving over 10K rpm (technology exist for 18K rpm!) making decent horsepower while having surprisingly good MPG. Honda was never about huge engines and lot of cylinders. They make impressive HP per liter normally aspirated even compared to forced induction engines. They will just turn the heat on competition by stratospheric rpm's.
It will be nothing too spectacular on paper, but expect it to match or beat GT-R on lap times at least in R version even with at least 100hp less. Just like it kept beating many exotic sport cars for 10 years with less than half the horsepower! Remember original NSX kept making C&D, R&T and Motor trend top 10 list in it's class way past it's introduction in 1990 against 911 twin turbo, viper, 348, 360,......
Horsepower does not help you go through corners, light weight does.
It will be a loss of money for Honda just like original, but it will be a statement of simplicity and basics.
They will do it since it means a lot for prestige among Japanese cat manufacturers. They won't sit idle and watch new GT-R beat them in JGTC. It will come to that if nothing else.
Price still might be easily in F430 territory or higher. This is not the class of cars for contest of who sells more of them. It is who wins on track and better lap times.
Anything different would be contrary to Honda philosophy. Unless they change it which would be strange at least.
Just my personal opinion.
