Question what tire size looks best on unlowered FIT???

alright....here goes.....ive FINALLY decided on what rims i want....none other than the 15x7 Enkei RPF1s but now ive got another ???. i dont plan on lowering my Fit, mainly because the roads in my area cause me to scrape alot in certain areas that i visit often. its kind of a chore driving these areas to keep from scraping and lowering my car will only make it worse than it already is. so anyway.....whats a proper tire size for 15" rims for the FIT.....for one so i dont scrape....and two it dosent look stupid on a unlowered FIT. sorry im all ???s but.....whats a good all-season tire???....im looking for one that dosent wear too quickly and has overall decent performance. everyone around here is so helpful i might add....and any info regarding this issue will once again be mucho appreciated. thanks guys. back to day-dreaming of driving my FIT

I am a big fan of 15' wheels. But to be honest they only look good on a lowered Fit.
If i wasnt going to lower and was looking for wheels i'd be looking at no more then 16', but no less then 16' aswell. So guess that means a 16' would look good. I mean 17's are nice, but IMO they are to heavy and big for the size/weight of our car. Good luck in your search though man.

the only reason im thinking 15in. is to get the lightest weight on the rims, im not taking style and looks into consideration at all really.....just wanna squeeze as much performance out of the FIT as i can muster and light light rims is a good way to do JUST THAT without having to do any major work on the car. as for 15s not looking good on a unlowered FIT.....in some ways i agree and in some ways i dont, 16s always look better and all but the stock SPORT rims dont look THAT bad and are of adequate enough size for me. i DO appreciate your opinion though.

I'm looking at the BF Goodrich 205/50/15 Sport G myself for my new Volks, although it's not as tall as the stock sport Dunlop. Ideally I'd like a size that does have the same diameter as stock.I need to check a conversion chart.

I can totally repect the fact your going for light weight! I was also going for light weight when i got my rims, or else i would have went for the 16's. You can really feel the weight of the wheels in the Fit so its a smart choice to look for 15's. I was not saying they will look bad, just not as good as a 16' .
And let me tell ya im rolling on Progress springs and the ride is barely stiffer then stock. I highly recommend them if you ever look for springs down the road. Not only are they comfortable but they really improve handling aswell.

Im on the same page as you gmayronne! we have absolutely TERRIBLE roads here in NJ, and i wanted to get the rpf1's also, but since im not lowered i figured they would look dumb in 15. and i want 15s cuz theyre SO lightweight (9.5lbs)... any other lightweight rims look GOOD on a fit thats not lowered?

thats what im saying REXXX.....the Enkei RPF1s in 15in. are so nice and light and affordable considering how light they are. most rims weighing what they do costs a $100 or 2 MORE per rim and thats just crazy and not realistic for me. i dont mind putting a chubbier tire on them....i just cant take that scraping man, it makes me cringe every time it happens and if i lower my car even a inch more....ill just say this, it might take chunks out of my bumper lol.

you guys talk about weight... you need to look at the gross weight
WITH TIRES. tires vary in weight

with the +41(or was it +42) that you get with the RPF1's, running
195/55/15 stock size is going really emphasize the thick sidewall.

it might even look better with the stock 15" wheels running stock
height, stock tires.

if i was to do it, i would definitely lower it and run 195/50/15's as
i am now. mine are DR21's which are knock-offs of the F1's.
the 195/50/15's without lowering it will look like a 4x4 especially
with a +41 offset.

i thought about that.....the tire weight and all. luckily SOME of these websites selling rims and tires are good about listing the weights of the tires.....i was gonna look around for the largest and lightest ones i could find. i was asking just to get some ideas and opinions. thanks for yours i might add.

Either the stock tire size or 205/50/15's. Dont go any taller then 50 series tires. Using a tall tire size to fill wheel wells isnt the smartest thing. Its added weight, and throws off the speedometer. Not to mention looks bad.

ideally, you'd want to do lightest weight wheels, light weight AND
grippy tires, and run the slightly shorter total diameter 195/50/15's
for improved acceleration.

but then you'll need to lower your car to make it look good. hahaha.
no easy way out.

so with the stock tires being 195/55/15......if i ran that size on the 15" RPF1s.....i would end up with a very "stock" look and height...right??? i just dont want there to be TOO big a gap in between and it look....well....stupid but if i can manage to pull off that "stock" look i would be happy with that.

As someone else looking for the RPF1 in a 15x7, where have you found with the best price?
So far, the best new price I've found was
Edge Racing - Wheels
If someone could beat that price, I'd be a happy camper

How about a 215/50/15 ? It's the same diameter as 195/55/15.

If you run the stock tires on aftermarket wheels, itll look stock with aftermarket wheels. Hahah! Done deal.
I have 215/50/15's on my Eurosports. I rubbed a bit, but being at stock height you probably wont.

I like my 195/50/15's for the look, but driving highway speeds sucks with the RPMs higher than theyre suppose to be.

If you want to fill the wheel well correctly do it with the wheel size, not the tire size.
Get 16's or 17's. 16's dont look so bad on a stock ride height Fit. Then again, 15's dont either.... with stock tires.

I like 15's for the weight factor, too... plus, the slightly taller sidewall they mandate means they'll survive on the streets better than a 45 or 40-series tire would. I just tested some 225/50's on 15x6" Saturn wheels (legal for SCCA H-Stock racing with 50mm offset), and they didn't rub much at all on stock springs. They DID rub the shock dust cover in the back just a little bit, and also a little bit on a small tab inside the rear part of the rear wheel well. This was with a fairly narrow Sumitomo HTR 50H tire. The fronts were a wider tire (I had these sitting around...) and didn't rub except under a BIG bumps. You'd really want to play with specific tires and offsets to get it just right. If you did, I don't think you'd ever see rubbing on stock springs.

However, those tires were heavy - about 5-6# more than the stock tires, which weigh about 18# according to Tirerack.com. A Kumho MX in 205/50 weighs 18# also, so you COULD get a sticky tire as light as stock. I think there are a couple 205/50's that are even a touch lighter than 18#, but I don't have my spreadsheet handy... I'll try to post that up later.

I'm looking at some Falken Hanabi wheels (~11.5# in 15x7) and a 205/50 for my future street wheel upgrade, and keeping the Saturn wheels for AutoX with some slicks.

hey EXWRX.....check out the tirerack.com.....they got em for $199 a piece for the 15x7. well ive decided.....im gonna go for the 15x7 RPF1 and just live with the "stock look".....its not a big deal for me, good looks was never really an issue for me and id prefer to get the lightest rims possible. light rims are such a good upgrade for a car if you are looking to improve....well just about everything....better acceleration, braking, and handling.....gas mileage. so im fairly decided on what im gonna do.....but can i expect this to throw my speedometer off???...if so, would it be drastic or fairly un-noticeable???

Edgeracing.com had them for $169 a wheel. If you stay with stock tire size, your speedometer won't be affected. If you change to a 205/50/15 it'll read slightly high 1-2 percent change
