So I am looking at the skunk2 spring install how to and I just want to clear up something before diving in.

It says to support the lugs.........I don't know if I have a different terminology or not but is that to mean the wheel studs? That would be my assumption but again I just want to make sure I am doing this properly.

If it is not referring to the wheel studs does someone have a picture of what exactly is meant to be supported.

i believe you're talking about the front to support the knuckle from
falling down to prevent the cv joint from separating.


I use a hydraulic jack and support the knuckle under the knuckle,
not on the lug studs. reason being, it's harder to slip off when you
support the ENTIRE knuckle and also to prevent the stud threads
from being damaged.

 

OK...........see now that is what made sense to me but beings as the how to said lugs I kept going back to the the studs in which i thought also was a very weak point to support the car.

I used a jack and some wire I had lying around tied around the whole thing...i still ended up popping the axle out >.>...but that was kinda my fault lol...but ya...make sure you have something supporting the whole rotor and stuff to prevent your axle from popping out. You could also use some string, wires, w/e to wrap around the wheel studs to give it more support.

 

i think spokan fell asleep in his garage after the install.

 

lol na I am done. I just used a jack. had a couple interruptions by the wife so it took me about 3 hours total to get done with an hour of interruption.

Car is f'in slammed! Can't wait to get the new wheels on the car.

 

Think about it for a minute........ WHAT DO YOUR LUGNUTS SCREW ONTO..... could it possibly be the LUGS ?????????

 

Ha yeah well that would be why I asked smart guy. If I put the jack on the LUGS/Wheel Studs I'd be putting the weight of on those and thats just asking for them to break.

 

Well it did say SUPPORT not jack. But anyway they don't break when holding the wheel on either. It probably meant to just keep a little support on the lugs so the arm doesn't hang and pull out the axle.
