Hey guys, sorry if this is a repost, but I'm considering a coilover setup, if I can find one that does NOT lower the car. I need to stiffen up. I think the Mugen 5 ways come close with .5 to 1"... but honestly, i just don't want a drop at all. I want to retain the stock height. Any suggestions?

 

You can retain stock height with coilovers. Just turn the perches all the way up.

Coilovers are height adjustable. You should be able to retain your stock height or close to it.

 

The ride height is controlled by the springs position on the threaded body of the strut. In the picture below, the car's ride height would be determined by where the gold ring is positioned. Turning the ring down the body would lower the car and raising the ring up would make the car higher.

 

OooOoh... so it could even go up as well? I see... I didn't realize there was that much leeway... thanks for clearing that up.

 

Member jsensk just installed the new Skunk2 coilovers, and he told me that with these you can go even higher than stock ride height.

 

on the lower-end models the preload spring seat acts as the
height adjuster as wat skibum showed and explained.

the true height adjustable coilover adjust height by threading
into the lower bracket like on the EnduraTech's. also TEIN's
Flex (in general) are the same way. you should not have to change the
spring preload just to adjust height.

 

I know what kenchan said is true on the Skunk2 Pro-C, and that with them also you can indeed retain stock ride height and even go slightly higher than stock should you for some (strange) reason want to.
