Fit buyers regret . . .

Man, after reading the forums here and seeing all the added bonuses to the MT Sport Fit, I regret buying the base AT instead of the MT/AT Sport. If only had could have afforded a bigger car loan.

I don't have much experience driving a MT, plus the dealers around here had all AT's, so I went with it.

I love the Fit, but now it seems to make it look even better I'm gonna end up spending more money in the long run than I had if I could have gotten a bigger loan for the Sport.

i sometimes regret it.

but it was hard enough finding a good color with AT that wasn't base.
so many base SSM MT's. bleh.

just as long as that magical torque converter gives me a good 100k no complaints here.
and traffic in an MT does suck, dont care what the common opinion says. buuut better fuel economy +1, and the ever-so-cool shifting of gears +40.

(no i wont use those horrendous paddle shifters to compensate)

:3 to each their own / bring on the AT bashings!!

[edit] drop the base and add some wheels, will look just as good as a sport. -2 speakers.. [/edit]

yeah, to do the lip kit, cruise control and spoiler, it'd probably cost more. actually, i don't think you could install cruise control

See I feel like you do. In St. Louis, the highways get so congested in the mornings that you may as well be driving in the city. A 20 mile drive takes well over an hour, all highway. So AT does me better there. Maybe later on if I choose not to do any cosmetic changes I could even trade it in for a Sport in 09 or '10 and make up the difference in price. Or save up and do all changes out of pocket. Thing was when I bought it, I was like "under the hood is identical, so what's it matter?"

Cruise I never was concerned about. Even when driving long distances I don't use it. But I guess the option would be nice.

Well unless you're really heartbroken over no cruise control, just get an aftermarket body kit and put the sport guys to shame!

I sit in traffic about an hour and a haf a day, and MT gets annoying a all hell. But once the roads open up, nothing beats it. My beetle is auto but that's a sound car, not a DD. I drove 2 AT fits and they made my festiva seem like a fast car.

Also a note on cruise control. With a low torque MT vehicle don't ever use it. you'll find you burn alot more fuel with cruise on

Thanks, now I don't feel so bad. But at least if I spend money on cosmetics, I can have a better kit than the factory sport kit.

But either way, Fit is awesome, even at stock base.

Would it be hard to match the factory paint if I put on a JDM body front/rear?

Sorry for all the questions guys. New at all this. But everyone's been great on this site, really appreciate it.

As long as the car is less than a year old the paint should match perfectly. if the car 3+ years old and gets alot of sunshine it gets tricky to match some colors

Nighthawk black.

If I ever put on the body kit, I'll keep in mind the wear and tear from sun/weather. That's a good point, thanks.

I'll just repeat the whole thing! Purple and neon green on blue rims and a coffee can on the exhaust!

yeah you'll have a pretty easy time matching paint.
my advise. have some made at a specialty auto paint store, turns out WAYYYY better than that overpriced factory sh*te.
and front/rear end jdm conversions arent too $$, just hard i hear.

lol im not sure why everyone thinks the fit AT is slow, i test drove the MT sport as my first and didnt feel a difference in any field, no sluggish trans like everyone is saying, and thats moving down from my subaru beast. :3

I actually like the base model and for the price its a modders dream. I almost wish i would have done it just to save a couple bucks. I could have put that money into rims and a kit instead of the car payment itself. I tried to talk my wife into a base but as soon as she saw them side by side i knew it was a lost cause and she wanted the cooler looking one. Some people are just that way. I still think the base is a perfectly fine car and if your that worried about it spend a couple hundred bucks on making it look more like you want it to. Thats my thoughts
