What other cars did you consider before buying the Fit?

Title says it all, what other cars did you research on before committing to the Fit? Right now I'm debating over:

2008 Fit
2009 Fit
VW Rabbit
Mazda 5

nothing...well an ae86 but I wanted something a tad more reliable...and gas efficient than a full on drifting machine. Cept I just found a 05' mini in my area for sale with decent mileage for the price so I'm sorta grr about that, o well.

I considered a Mini Cooper, Mazda 3 and Mazda 6, VW Rabbit and VW Beetle...

Also was looking into Yaris and Versa models.

Other people asked if I was interested in the Cobalt, HHR, Focus, and a few others

I looked at the VW Rabbit, but my experience with a Golf and VW in general drove me away - only good if you plan on buying a car every 5 years.

The Yaris, but it was so under equipped safetywise in comparison to the Fit.

Minicooper, but it seemed overpriced and too trendy for me. A premium gas car too.

Smart Car which didn't seem too smart once I realized it wanted premium gas in its tank.

Couple of hybrids, but the technology just isn't there yet to make them reliable over four or five years.

In the end the '08 Fit won for economy, safety, and styling.

-Nissan Xterra

That was my short list before I got the Fit, I was going from a Jeep Cherokee

Another EVO but was way to expensive to maintain again
WRX Could not find one for the price i wanted
Speed 3 Same as the WRX
S2000 Found a couple i liked but thougt it would not make a good DD
Cobra To much for gas right now
Civic SI I could not find one for the right price and did not like interior to much

For me i wanted these cars more than the FIT still do. Really like the S2000 and Evo the most i still whish i would have bought one of these instead of the FIT. But i need a good cheap car to last me for the next 4-6 years. I am starting to go back to college and don't want to spend all my money into a car at this point. When i get done with school and hopefully get a good job in the marketing field i will be able to get a S2000 or evo. I still might trade the Fit in once i move back to FL in a week if i find a S2000 for a good deal??? But i love the fit for what it is to me a good car to save me some money for right now.

Classic Cooper: '68 Morris Mini Estate Wagon (1st choice). Wife gave me too much crap.
Smart Car: No cargo room, and I don't fit their seats.
08 BBP Fit: Once I test drove it, there were no other choices.

Toyota Yaris
Pontiac Vibe
Scion xD

My mom found a good price on a Mazda 3 hatch that was used. But I didn't even give it a chance cuz at that point we were telling dealers 14,000 out the door and it's mileage was worse than the other cars we were comparing. I really regret not giving it a shot though, cuz we ended up spending the same amount out the door on the Fit that the Mazda would've been.

Live and learn.

I was deciding between a Mazda3 Sport (The Hatch Version), Yaris Hatchback and the Fit... and at first I like the Mazda3 for its power and luzury features and yet the price is roughly the same price as my Fit Sports back in APR 2006. But then... three things changed my decision...

1) The Mazda3 runs on a Ford Focus Engine (Thats what I heard)

2) The Fit is a lot more "customize-able" compare to the Mazda3 (All I see on most modded Mazda3 are: Differnt Rims, Sports Grille / Factory Grill with jacked/missing Emblem, painted Factory Rims....)

3) I got a much better trade-in value at my local Honda Dealership

I may at the end go for a mazda3... but thats only if I am want to settle for a stock car.....

Yaris was too much like a toy car to me, everything is so "plastic".... and since I was driving an 2000 Echo back then, it makes no sense for me to go from a Echo to a Yaris when I need to pay more and gets NO-TRUNK SPACE =\

'08 BMW 330i could not get the color i want
'08 Mini Cooper S considered it (My aunt is the Finance Manager at a BMW dealership lol)
'08 S2000 test drove it and really wanted it but the Fit blew me away
'05 Element what I was really looking for as my DD because of the cargo space which the Fit also had.

In the end I was on the debate on the Cooper S or the Fit. Well I just had a better discount with the Honda Fit I got it below Invoice because of my Uncle .

2008 Fit
2008 Yaris
2008 Versa
2008 Accent
2008 Aveo (is it Av-eo or Av-vayo?)

Nevertheless went with the Fit for the interior space, versatility, price, and reliability.

I kept going back and forth between the Nissan Versa and the Fit. The Versa felt more comfortable with nice luxury features available but the Fit handled better and felt like it was of higher quality.

I ended up with a 2008 Milano Red Fit MT and I love it! I am a proud owner for 1 week and look forward to many years of ownership. Windows have been tinted and I am considering a vanity tag for the front and a "Sport" or "RS" badge for the rear (in place of the dealer name).

Motor on!

I was getting killed by the mileage in my 4x4 explorer, so My focus was on good mileage cars, plus I needed something that would fit my 6 foot 350 (!) pound frame. In order:

2008 fit
2009 fit
Pontiac Vibe
Toyota Prius
Nissan Versa
VW New Beetle

The Beetle didn't get good enough mileage, the Pontiac and the Toyota did't have big enough front seats for me, and I just liked the Fit better than the Versa. So far I've been really happy with the Fit.
