How long did your clutch last?

Hey guys, my fit isn't the first car i own; but i used to have an integra gsr but i sold it. now i'm starting all over since then; i read about clutch slippage. i don't know but i'm just concern how long will it last.

My car is reaching 4,000 miles and I was wondering how long your first clutch lasted? I don't do any dumb burn-outs, resting on the clutch, i do slip/ride a bit from starting points at 1st gear.

explain your techniques on starting from 1st gear. and

how long did you clutch last? or how long do you think yours will last?

and if you did changed it when? what was the miles on your car..

really depends on how you drive your car... so hard to say. it's like asking
how long did your brake pads last?

i dont expect to change my clutch while i own the car (5yrs or 50k miles,
or 4yrs and 2months to go..and counting).

I have had friends who drive their car pretty rough, have their clutch last 80,000km. My old car is still on the original clutch at 112000km.

It really depends on how you drive. I think your fly wheel life is somewhat related to the life of your clutch. Can anyone confirm?

Your flywheel will practically last forever as long as you don't abuse your car. Overtime it will glaze though, so just get it resurfaced when you put in your new clutch.

I got over 180,000 km on a '90 Hyundai Excel clutch once, and that was before Hyundai made really good vehicles like they do now. (The synchronizer on second gear failed at about 175K km though.)

I expect Honda clutches, reasonably well driven, will last at least that long.

Not to bring a thread back from the dead but...

Stock clutch, 49,000 miles, boosted for pushing 8,000 miles, daily driven. Yes, I do take advantage of on-ramps. Clutch still grabs like new.

Which is weird, because right after the turbo it would slip a little bit into 3rd and 4th, but it doesn't any more. The car isn't any slower, but the clutch feels better. Maybe it's the cold weather.

Yup. My wife consistently wore out clutches in our 82 Accord and 90 Subaru Legacy in under 40,000 miles. That's why we have a Fit Sport AT now. I can at least pretend to shift with the paddles, without having to worry about clutch replacement costs.

If Honda would just offer a boosted Fit with a 6-speed DCT, I would buy one in a flash.

Got 67,000 km on my GD1's stock clutch so far. Nothing too serious yet although it's beginning to show its age - there's some slip/delay on a redline 1-2 shift. For daily driving though, it's still perfectly usable.

75,000 mi as of this morning. Clutch grabs perfectly fine I would not say as good as new but it will easily go to 100-120,000 miles. I live in NJ and there is a ton of stop and go traffic. I do not ride the clutch or really feather it into first however.

Good advice.

The left foot is either pushing the clutch to the floor or it's on the dead pedal. Off the pedal on the floor, on the clutch pressing it down to the floor then up and off the pedal and onto the floor again. Full depressions and get yer foot off and back on the floor - time the shifts so each one is a complete process.

Only time you might 'play' is on a standing start on a hill, then use the parking brake to hold it.

Clutch will last a long time if you only put your foot on it for a full shift.

I basically relearned how to drive a manual on my fit and taught my brother and sister how to drive it.

I suppose you could call that abuse.

It has 78,000K on it now. I live in downtown Chicago and hit a lot of bumper to bumper traffic.

It seems to still be grabbing perfectly.

GoFits what's your MPG like. That's demanding city traffic. How about brakes? Do you garage? I'm looking at my future... though not in city conditions here.

I have parking my building (underground garage)
MPG has been anywhere between 26 and 34 mixed driving. I tend to jump off the lights a bit to briskly..so my MPG tends to suffer a little.

Best tank I ever got was 45mpg but that was on a road trip to visit my folks in Colo.

Brakes just got serviced at 65,000.

Love my little car.
