(Future) New Fit Owner Here!
(Future) New Fit Owner Here!
Hello to Fit Freak! I just put my $500 deposit down on an 09 Taffeta White Fit Sport M/T and thought I should stop lurking.
I test drove a Milano Red A/T today, and that cemented my desire for the new Fit, a desire I have been harboring since I saw posts of it from the New York Auto Show. I think that Honda has taken the finest small car on the market and made it even better. The GD was--and is--a fantastic car, and some of the tuned ones here blow me away, but the styling and the new interior of the 2009 hooked me.
I am excited to be a part of the FitFreak community; it seems like you all have built up a great website and brought a lot of cool people together.
I have to shout out the GE Photo Thread, which I've looked at probably five times a day for the last two weeks. It was instrumental in my color choice--I thought that black was the only color a guy's Fit could be, but wow, if anything is true it's that the GE wears every color well! I ended up with TW for two reasons: I think it looks especially good with the Fit's black trim, and it is the international racing color of Japan after all (but I doubt I'll put the big red rising sun on the hood anytime soon).
For equal money, I had been strongly considering a 2005-2006 base Mini Cooper, and a part of me still thinks they're great, but when I realized that the reason all of the ones for sale had 30K miles was because that was the end of warranty I returned to reliable Honda and haven't looked back. I grew up in a Honda family (though I strayed to Toyota) and I feel like I'm returning to an old friend, like that guy in the "Power of Dreams" commercial.
Anyways, I'm glad to be here, and I promise I'll redeem this long and boring post with pictures when my car gets off the boat!

sounds good!
well, i can tell you that your Fit will never equal the driving pleasure of
a MINI (especially not a R50/R53), but it's more practical and by far easier
to maintain, so for a dd, you made a great choice!

Another future owner...
Can I say, "Me too!" ?
I just talked with St Louis Honda dealership. They have almost no inventory, as their Fits are going out the door pretty much as soon as they get them. Still, I managed to secure one with a deposit that should be arriving next week! Orange Sport MT...
If I had waited for my favorite (dark blue), it would have been six weeks... but I'm not picky on color, and orange is plenty of awesome sauce as well.
Guess it's time to get the insurance settled, since it looks like I may need it next week!
