Review: Megan Coilovers for GE8
Review: Megan Coilovers for GE8
So i finally received a text this afternoon from my buddy saying that he picked up the first set of coilovers from megan. we hurriedly met up and i was off to the shop to install these, thanks to my day off.
I'm not gonna show you guys how to install, because that's already been covered here.
Instead i'll tell you guys how it rides and what it looks like dropped, to show you what you could be in store for, if so you decide to get these down the road.
Installation took about 4 hours from the first wiper that came off til the last tool was put away. Reason why it took so long is because alot of it was trial and error. install, put on wheel, lower car, raise car, take off wheel, uninstall, 4x etc.
The fronts are modded at lowest point a quarter of an inch before the axle boot. The only way i could go lower now is to cut the lower shock body bracket, but it's risky with the chance that it may not re-thread back onto the shock body.
The rears are self-explanatory. if you wanna go lower, be creative.
First Impressions
I'm coming from eibach pro kits. overall the car lost the bit of body roll that was left with just a spring/shock drop. it's very nimble, and i don't ever hit the bump stops in the rear like i used to with my eibach's. (rear bumpstops weren't cut)
The best part is that the car is very firm now, and it's reflexes are quicker. It's not teeth-chatteringly stiff...its very firm. For those of you worried about it being too stiff..don't be. it's not unbearable. The spring rates are supposedly 10/8.

After the install the car has lowered another 1/2 -/+ inch since these pics were taken.

happy motoring!
PS: Now selling my front pair of Eibach pro kit springs!

Megan's are rebranded, but are finished off at the same factory where Apex-i exv's are manufactured. i've had my set of megans on my 240 for over 2 years, tracked at least 2-3 times a month, every month. still going!!!
thanks david!!! see you wed!

mmm i was gonna say for Megans they look quite well-built! and yes the red thing is there but you STILL need to reuse top thing
sorry for the late reply, yes they're the lowest, modded in the rear and the fronts as low as they can go before the shock body hits the axle boot. I could cut the bracket and still go lower. but this is low enough for los angeles roads, as this is my daily. lol.
here's some recent pics, springs have settled a bit. just waiting on some JDM tails and contemplating the JDP front lip with my tax return...lol.
