Man, this sucks. I've got 16000 miles on my 09 Fit Sport.
A few thousand miles ago I hit a sunken sewer drain in the left lane of a parkway and SLAM! That hurt. Gotta remember to avoid that one next time. Next time came and I hit the friggin thing again. There was no impact on the cars ability to go straight, no shimmy, or anything else, but the Fit started to wear out the outside edge of the left front tire. Darn. Somehow I never found the time to go to the alignment shop. So the other day I ask a guy at a service station down the street from my job, and he says he hasn't got the update yet for the 2009s on his rack. What the heck is he waiting for???
But thats fine, because the other night I get home and glance at my right front tire and notice something bright and shiny in one of the slots of the tread. What's that? Oh, great. A nail head. So now I got that on my mind. Plug it myself? Nah. Go to the guy around the corner with the hand painted FLAT'S FIXED sign. Dude. There's no ' need for FLATS.
Then today I'm getting in my car for the commute home, and I notice my left front tire, with the worn outer edge, now has a bubble in the sidewall. There was another SLAM the other day from a wicked pothole. I guess that did it.
I saw where TireRack.com has the OEM tire for 83 bucks. My rears are good. I was thinking get two. But then I looked around on here for the tire solutions that others have come up with, and I'm thinking of going to Costco tomorrow and getting them to install some Michelins in the 205/50 size, on all four wheels. I got a similar tire on my Odyssey, and they're a lot quieter than the OEMs were. $138 each. Yikes. Then I'll need to go get an alignment, so I don't wear the outer edge of the new tires either.
So whaddaya think? 83 each for the matching OEM plus 15 per for m+b at a nearby TireRack affiliated shop that'll do the alignment for $79?
Or 4 new ones in the 205/50 size and then the alignment.
I don't think Dunlop will warranty the tire with the bubble in the sidewall at 16K, will they?? Especially since it's got a worn outer edge.

it wont hurt to try and warranty it, worse they will say is no and then you just go for new tires. as for the choice of tires there are better choices than the one's that came from factory. but as for 205/50 you can do it but the tires will bulge out a little on the sides.
one of my stock bridgestones has had a nail in it for a long time. no head on the nail either. it looks like it was sheared off. no loss of tire pressure.
i've hit some bad pot holes. about a year ago i hit a wicked one going 50 mph.
the tires seem to be holding up.
