tinting the tails

Is there DIY on tinting the tails? I was going to buy some film and attempt to tint the tails. Is this a good idea or is there a better way of handling this?

Do you put in a brighter bulb to compensate for the reduced light levels?

want the tints to look good and last

Some good professional help can ensure against cracking, peeling, bubbling and fading of the tints. Also a good quality film matters.
