2010 v 2011 Fit Newbie
2010 v 2011 Fit Newbie
I have a chance to purchase a brand new 2011 Fit Sport for $800 less than a comparable 2011. I am new to the world of Fit, so be patient with my me.
First, were there any major changes/improvements between 2010 and 2011.
Second, is $800 worth the one year difference? I would have a new car, but when I wanted to trade/sell the 2010, it would be very low miles since it is a year old with no miles.
What is the Fit wisdom- 2010 or 2011
I am on a tight time frame, so rapid feedback would be appreciated.

I assume you mean you're comparing a new 2010 to a new 2011. $800 seems like a minor price difference when the 2011 comes with electronic stability control standard. And at least with the Sport model I think a couple of other things come standard too.
And when you go to sell the car of course how many miles you have on it will be the same but people will perceive the 2010 as a year older and that will affect the value.
It's March. The 2011s came out in what, January? A dealer still stuck with 2010s ought to be giving them away. Just as an example I bought my 2010 Fit Sport AT in late November for $16k, which seems to be below invoice.

2010 Sport Fit AT for 15.7 a few weeks ago.....with the events on what has happened in Japan recently..it may affect the price dealers will be asking as the supply may be vanishing soon...coupled with gas prices.......
Would you take it for $800 less if they removed the seatbelts and the ability to include seatbelts?
stability control is important, particularly when dealing with a car that is not particularly heavy and has been shown to not come out so well when colliding with an average sized car (go to youtube and find the Fit vs Accord videos). A subcompact is like a motorcycle - you use your accident avoidance ability to keep from getting in a crash in the first place.
Given the choice, I would buy a base with ESC (especially since it includes cruise now) over a Sport without ESC. It's not flashy like alloy wheels or the paddle shifter. You'll never know its there. You'll just notice that you seem to have used your awesome driving skills to avoid that crash and go on about your day, probably posting a rant on here about the asshole that tried to kill you.
