My girl mentioned about trading in my 2008 Honda Civic Si for a Fit so we can match... Should I do it?

 

Yea I'd totally get rid of that Si. Haha seriously? It looks like you took good care of it, but hey, if you don't care that much about it anymore, sure, trade it in.

 

I hope $8k was a good trade in value for that Element because they are really in demand up in the pacific north west now that honda stopped making em. Nice Fit. I really wanted a white one, but couldn't find a manual one. I picked up a manual silver one a few days ago instead...

 

i would have kept the element, KEEP THE CIVIC and got the fit. i want an element myself. ....keep the civic. just my opinion. nice rides regardless.

 

Nice. Can you take pics when you put in the Sportlines? Some pics I've seen has the front higher than the back and other angles, they look even. I'm curious how yours looks

It is a fairly safe bet you will still love your Fit a couple of years from now. I don't think any of us cyber-geniuses can predict the future with your Significant Other.

 

It seems like you already have a good match with a Fit and the Civic Si for a little diversity. But if your arm gets twisted hard enough I'd probably hold out for a 2013 model which may bring some nice new features\options.

 

Just made the same switch @ Thanksgiving. Sold my 2005 EX AWD (Private party, $12,500, 78K miles) and bought a 2012 Fit Sport Auto.

I do miss some things about the Element but all and all......really liking this car.

 

Where ae you guys finding new Honda Fits? I haven't seen a new Fit (or hardly ANY new Hondas) at my local Honda dealer since the Tsunami last spring. The Honda dealers around here are selling nothing but used cars just to keep the doors open.

 

Lots of new Hondas here in Phoenix. Short on Si's, though.

 

Congrads on the new Fit and I would be keeping the Civic because it looks really nice and in great condition.

 

Used SCs still pull 16k around here. 8k sounds painful.

 

My Element had 122,000 miles. Is $8,000.00 still too low? KBB trade it value for a fair Element was $7,999,00

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that generation on the Element SC.

The styling is love/hate thing when it comes to Elements, but these SC Elements are stunning. Especially that 'Root Beer' colour they came in.

I would also agree with phrancis. Elements still command a very high resale amount up here (I'm in Vancouver BC), to the point where buying a new Fit made more sense than a used SC (no matter how sexy lol).

Just had a quick peek in my local Craigslist, and to really bring home how popular they still are, there is a 2008 SC with 55,000kms, going for $21,000. And that's a private sale, not a dealership.

 

I was looking at an 08 EX AWD 5 speed prior to trading the Escape. The dealer in metro toronto was asking $21,995 and it had 60,000 km on it give or take. 4 years old and only $10K less than what it was new...

I would have had to PAY to get into an OLDER car with more mileage and less features than my 09 Escape!! To the tune of about $5-6K!!

I know, I know...Escapes are not exactly depreciation champions.....but they are $10K less than comparable CRVs new (after rebates, etc), so it does work out a bit in the end.

Of course...shoulda bought a Honda. My one week old Focus was towed into the dealer today...no start this am. Lots of battery, but no start. Turns out it was the ECM that was shot. I'm not happy, but at one week I can chalk that up to a bad part....right.....please? Too bad the part is in California and my car is tied up till Thursday....

On another note, the 2012 Elantra rental (courtesy of Ford?!?!?!) I have is pretty nice...too bad no hatch available on that.

 

Looks like it is down to $10,500.

haah, wow. i traded my 07 sc, 5spd MT in for 12,500, they turned around and sold it for 17500. that was $1500 more than I paid for it a year and a half ago, and 40k miles ago! hahahaha

 

Yikes, Sorry to hear that! Really sucks since when you buy a new car the last thing one expects is for it to break down. Not having the ECM part in stock even makes it more exasperating.

The failure was probably a long shot and hopefully not a bad QC problem.
That's also a bit odd that the have Hyundai loaners at a Ford Dealership.
