Attention fit sport owners with auto trans...

Just wondering if you've noticed that the paddle shifters work in regular driving mode? My significant other inaverdantly hit the shifter the other day while in regular driving mode and the car downshifted and it scared her... is this normal??

yes its normal... You CAN use the sport shift in D mode and it will automatically revert back to D mode. It will also automatically shift when you get to redline unlike when in S mode.

Yes they work in D mode. But as soon as their is inactivity in the paddles, it'll go right back to being automatic.

Your Owner's Manual discusses this on pages 154-159.

Works great for on ramps or last minute engine braking going into corners

Use it all the time to downshift.

It's also pretty smart in that it knows if you're going downhill and you want it to stay in 2nd or 3rd gear....in those cases it wont automatically shift back to D until you flatten out.

Use the paddle shifters all the time in D mode... lots of hills in Seattle and it lets me control the amount of engine braking -- keeping me from having to ride the brakes all the way down. Don't use the up-shift paddle much though.

Cruise Control With The Paddle Shifters

You can also adjust your Cruise-Control speed with the Paddle Shifters!

Say your cruising at 65MPH and you're gaining on the vehicle in front of you, don't step on the brake to slow down. Just tap on the (-) Down Shift Paddle. I believe it slows you down to about 5 miles per tap with out disengaging the cruise-control.

Tapping on the (+) Paddle Shifter increases your Cruise-Control speed!

I love and utilize this feature all the time.

I would love it also, if I could get it to work. Can anyone else confirm this feature? I tried it several times today and other than a brief change -- up or down -- the cruise control speed reverted to its original setting.

Why would you downshift during normal everyday driving?

Mine doesn't work this way either
Maybe someone is confusing the paddles with the cruise buttons...
