I have a 2008 Fit and a new Yakima KingJoe Pro bike rack. The Yakima instructions say to mount lower arm in license place well - vertical surface only. This covers up the lower part of my license plate a bit. I would like to mount the rack a little lower, but afraid this will smush my car. Anyone have experience/advice with this?

 

I'm taking my bike to Chicago in a few days. I'll probably take the plate off and zip tie it to the bike for the trip.
