New to FitFreak, Excited to Continue Modding my GE8!
Hey fellow FitFreaks,
I got my '13 Fit new at the end of 2013, but have only started modding it as of last year!
K&N system came first, and a modest yet noticeable power gain came with it! Really helps since the air is thin where I live.
The wheels and tires came next during last summer... they were among the cheapest wheels and tires money could buy (eBay specials ;P ) and they've been a perfect pairing for my first experience with big wheels/low profile tires since I've nailed them on a number of pot-holes and the occasional parking lot curb
After the wheels/tires came the rack/roofbox, primarily for a roadtrip I took out East in the fall. With a dog, two people, and a giant cooler in the car, it was nice being able to keep all of our clothes/dry food/towels/roadgear up in the box and out of the way in the already comfortably crowded car.
Skip ahead to this year, and I've had the suspension setup installed for about two months now. It's thanks to a write-up I found on these forums that I got it done myself! Unfortunately for the poor Fit, I let my "mechanic" friend help and he insisted the car wasn't up high enough for the CV joint to come apart while we did the front right... well, let's just say that this joint is still slinging grease despite rebanding it twice now going for '3rd time's the charm' here soon.
To go along with the wrap's purple shimmer theme, I got a handful of purple LED's off eBay and have discovered that I really like having the rear dome light on while driving at night as it's just enough light to be able to see around the interior a little bit without being so bright that it's distracting.
Now for the wrap... I call it a liquid wrap, but it's truly just Plasti-Dip from dipyourcar.com. Using the DipYourCar turbine, I sprayed the car and roofbox plain white, then sprayed a white pearl over it that shimmers purple at the right angle. I then mixed tiffany blue pearls into a clearcoat dip, and dripped it down the sides of the car, rear bumper, and roofbox. Lastly, a plain clearcoat dip to seal it all in. This winter I plan to upgrade to a professional pneumatic spray gun setup and attempt to use AutoFlex to give her a purple/orange colorshift that, in the end, will look as glossy and perfect as factory car paint, yet still remain peel-able!
Thanks for reading about my Fit, it's been a fun journey with her and I'm looking forward to pursuing some upgraded headlights/fog lights next!
Sorry, overlooked this question! She's auto with paddles... While I enjoy some aspects of stick, I have another car that's my "I feel like being sporty and shifting the whole way" car ;P this lovely gal is the get-around-town mobile and mini-roadtrip slayer!
