'08 Fit Hood Latch

All,

Any DIY fixes for the hood latch? I have to hit the latch release in the car then go to the hood. Give it some force. Go back to latch release and try again then go to hood and give it some upward force, or have someone grip the hood while I hit the release. PITA! Thanks in advance.

Ben

Any bodywork evident in front?

First try is to lubricate the latch and cable to assure that the hooks open all the way.

Next is to play with the rubber bumpers at the corners of the hood. These screw in & out...too far out and they will bind/twist the hood.

Yes body work was done in 2015. Totally forgot about that. New hood, headlight, front bumper.

Looking at my hood more carefully it appears the hood bumpers could use some adjusting. I'm not even sure how to locate the cable. Would it be in line with the interior latch running along that side of the engine compartment to the hooks? Thanks a lot.

You only need to access the end in the middle. Put some graphite lube ('Lock-Ease' or similar) on the cable end and work it back & forth from the drivers seat. Sometimes the plastic cover at the top of the bumper needs to be popped open via its little clips.
