Wiring Powered Sub to Battery - HELP!!!
 

Hey gang -

I have a 2009 Fit Sport in which I'm installing a small powered sub (Boss 600) and I need to know the best/easiest way to route the hot lead through the firewall to the battery. I'm handy, but would rather not make any new holes in the firewall and wondering if I can pass a 8 gauge wire through an existing grommet somewhere.

Any ideas!!!

you will most likely need to punch a hole through a rubber grommet at the firewall. that's what i did, among many others here :)

Wow - thanks for the quick reply! When you say "punch a hole in the grommet", does that mean there's an existing passage that I might feed that wire through. And if so, how did you do that? Idon't have a ton of tools, but I'm stubborn as hell and will keep trying until I get it done. Just looking for direction from an experienced person such as you.

I'm planning on tapping into the head unit using a Scoshe line converter so I can use the low level inputs on the sub. Thinking that I should splice into the front speaker wires since I have replaced all my stock speakers with Polk db651s' and the fronts seem louder and fuller than the rear.

OK, I've rambled enough, but I'm pretty psyched about getting this stock unit to sound way better than factory.

Thanks much for the info. I punched through a large grommet on the driver's side and after 1 1/2 hours and plenty of sweat and swearing my ass off, I got it!!! I was able to tap the head unit and route all the wires to under the LT backseat without breaking any trim tabs or breaking anything.
This web-site help me get all the info to tackle this project myself. I don't want to say how many hours it took, but I've learned a whole lot!!
