But still no moonroof!!!!!!!!!!

I was just told by the manager of a H dealership that they expect the Sport version to come to approx $24,500 with all taxes, freight, etc.

That's too pricey, that would mean the Fit would cost:

24500$ - 15% taxes = 21304$
21304 - 1225$ freight & PDI - 20079$

That's 300$ less than a Civic LX 4 door. Not the best way to fill a gap left by the Civic going upmarket.

If that was a Fit Sport with Autmatic transmission (1200$ option on the Civic), then it might work.

I plan on harrasing Honda to build be a sunroof equipped Fit. I might even push for heated mirrors and rear disks and yellow paint. IMO, the heated mirrors should be standard equipment on the Sport, if not all Fits sold in Canada.

burm 03-09-2006 10:20 AM

He actually said approx $19,900 + all the add-on costs coming to $24,500.
And yes, it is for a Fit Sport automatic.

He probably quoted that amount because that is almost exactly the cost of the Yaris - only the Yaris for that price would come with a moonroof.

I agree that heated mirrors should definitely be standard equipment for all cars sold in Canada.

Looks like we won't have to wait until April 20 though, like some of our American friends are saying.

burm 03-09-2006 10:29 AM

Waaaaaaaait a minute. Looks like that $24,147.75 on the Yaris I built doesn't include a moonroof either.

What bugs me is that the Suzuki/Pontiac/Chevrolet Swift/Wave/Aveo are available with heated mirrors and a power sunroof. The Pontiac Wave with every option on their website (5 speed manual), lists for 19135$.

Only option box missing was Honda build quality, fuel economy, reliability and resale value.

LOL... but to me, that is a heck of a lot more important to me than a sunroof and heated mirrors. :p

I’m sure if enough people were serious about getting a Fit Sport with a power sunroof, heated mirrors and rear disks for say, a 1500-2000$ premium, they’d likely consider doing it as a Sport Premium package. They have all the parts available to them; they just need to install them on the Fit destined for Canada and the US.

Are you guys from Ontario or something? My Yaris only comes to 22734? Do you guys have to pay PST also? If you do that sucks. Buy it in Alberta!!!!

b17gsr 03-09-2006 12:56 PM

I'm in Ontario, we pay GST and PST on most items. My wife and I keep joking about moving to Alberta. Lower taxation, better school funding, etc. One of the advantages of having oil to sell to the US. Just not too crazy about Ralph Klein and some of his ideas. And we'd have to bring the grand-parents too!

If an Ontario resident buys a car in Alberta, do we still have to pay PST on return?

Anyone?

Also, when is Mr. Harper's 7-1=6% PST supposed to kick in?

Our federal tax is called the GST. ;)

It will take more than 6 months that's for sure, probably more than a year if it ever happens. He needs the support of another party for that to happen, and all the other parties wanted to reduce taxes in a different way, or use the funds elsewhere.

Can anyone who has seen the orange Fit at shows (Canada) tell me if it is a nice shade, perhaps more to the gold metallic side. Or is it gaudy and tacky looking? (like the Element)

If I bought it in Alberta, and registered here in Manitoba. I would have to pay the PST (7%) at the time of registration. Even on a used car bought in MB, you have to pay PST on it. So fu***** gahy.

Also, where did you get this pamphlet? In the mail, at the dealer? Email? In the USA, are they getting the three trim levels? Is the DX just for Canada?

burm 03-14-2006 05:57 PM

I received what is probably the same pamphlet with those specs from a dealership last week. Just 4 pages with not much information. They had just arrived that day.

b17gsr 03-14-2006 08:51 PM

Only Canada is getting the DX, the US is getting 2 trim levels.
