Diablo Cruise, BBQ, and fun! (NorCal, Mt. Diablo, California)

Hey some of us NorCal/Bay Area people here are hosting a cruise and bbq meet May 19th, 2012 and we want to invite everyone to join. Here are the details:

What: Cruise/Pot Luck BBQ Meet
When: May 19th, 2012. As early as 9am to whenever.
Why: To have some fun, meet other current and ex-Fit owners and friends.
Where: Castro Valley, San Ramon, Mt. Diablo, Walnut Creek. (Depending on where you're coming from and where you want to meet up; more details to follow.)

There is an admission of $10 to Mt. Diablo State Park.

Map of the cruise: Driving directions to Arbolado Park, Walnut Creek, CA - Google Maps

We'll be cruising in the morning, taking local streets with very few traffic lights. There will be three spots to join up. Castro Valley, San Ramon, and the very last spot before climbing up Mt. Diablo will be a school in Danville. Those locations are marked on the map.

Meeting Spot details:
Castro Valley, McDonald's, Strobridge Ave @8:30am, depart @9am
San Ramon, Diablo Plaza around CVS and Starbucks @9:20am, depart @9:45am
Danville, Athenian School, Mt. Diablo Scenic Blvd @10am, depart @10:20am

Please arrive early or at least on time; there will be a window to gather, and meet/greet. We want to depart on time and do not want anyone trailing.

Cruise from Athenian School to Mt. Diablo Summit will take about 30mins, and another 30mins from the summit down to Arbolado Park in Walnut Creek. There will be an opportunity to stop and look around at the summit. Check out the view, take pictures, etc.

We will then arrive at Arbolado Park to set up for the bbq around noon; eat and have some fun. If for whatever reason you cannot make the cruise, you are welcomed to join the bbq. We will set up a game of some sort and have small prizes and awards for participation.

It's going to be a pot luck bbq so please bring your favorites, your own recipes, snacks, drinks, etc. Majority of the food will most likely be provided by our Konig_feather/flatout.

More details or new info will follow as we progress closer to the event date. Here is the "sign up" list for those going. Please put your screen name, which spot you will be meeting at, and any other people or friends joining, and what you are bringing to the pot luck bbq. We look forward to a great turnout, thanks!

If you don't know how many people or what food to bring, please edit yourself later, and we'll all try to clean up the list as best as possible. Spread the word, tag Fits on the road with post-it's!

If you are inviting any guests, please add how many guests are coming (next to your name as I have done) so that we know how much food needs to be prepared. Thanks

Haha, doesn't have to be early. If you skip the drives we still won't meet at Arbolado park in Walnut Creek for the BBQ until most likely after 11am!

I am considering it. It's my first free weekend in a while and unplanned collapsing in exhaustion sounds probable, but having a BBQ with a bunch of friends on top of Diablo has it's appeal as well.

See, every time I finally have a free weekend, I try to plan a FIt event for it XP. EXWRX It would be great to see you again, and to see your car if you can make it!
