My son had the short block build for 800 dollars but that cost is alot higher since he traded up to it. The Head is where the real cost is ,about 2000 dollars years ago. Then you have the machine work and cams. Here is a link to show what is possible but I dont have today's cost numbers. How To Build A LS/VTEC Frankenstein Motor
That motor is gone but I have a B18 race motor that might be for sale. Never been run, My son was building it for his civic to run Quick 8. Hp should be around 250-275 all motor. I know he was asking 4500 for car and motor. Needs to be put together.
When we were racing the motor in the picture there was a sleeper Civic there running 11.6 all day long. That is what he wanted but with a few more HP. That Civic was so constant you though a robot and computer was driving it.
Its a b16a that my son had. He cleaned it up and powder coated the valve cover because the car it was going into was green. It produced 158 wheels with stage two cams. It could have been better tuned but thats the learning curve. It reved to 9000 and when I drove the car it was in, it would throw you back in the seat and I was afraid to rev it past 7500. I liked that motor. His newer motor is going to be better than that. Just has to get a head but thats the most cost of the motor.
The engine was bought and put into a eg coupe civic and then sold to friend in a civic hatchback. His eg coupe is a real nice car now.
