Hey y'all! Just found this rad website and I'm hoping someone here might have some insight for me.

I have a 2017 EX and I'm wanting to install a Kenwood DDX6705S, but I've never done this before and it's more complicated than I expected. I have the head unit, dash kit, wire harness, SWC interface (both an Rp4-HD11 and a SWI-CP2).

Originally, these components were going to be installed in a 2013 Civic but that car has been sold, so I was gonna just put it in my Fit. I'm wondering if the wire harness is compatible with the Fit? I can post pictures if needed. My main concern is the wiring, and how much splicing will need to be done. I don't want to mess this up, and I don't want to have someone else do it (IE: take it to a shop).

Help me FitFreak forums, you're my only hope.

does anyone know if the front bar is solid or hollow? a few years ago i bought Blox swaybar for my GK , never installed it, but recently decided to go for it. also just realized it's
smaller than stock ( about 15/16 ) only thing i can think of is it's for a racing application, or possibly Fits sold in some overseas markets use smaller bars? . . or the stock is bigger because it's
hollow. if i remember correctly , i think my '02 SI was similar. the stock bar was hollow, but the after market one, which was stiffer was solid, so it had a smaller OD

Hi folks,

I'm new to working on my fit, but replaced pads, rotors, calipers, and master cylinder last week, which went very well. Everything is working now.

I want to remove the clutch delay valve, but am a bit confused thinking through it. I had to bench bleed the brake master cylinder before putting it on, which makes sense. Presumably, then, I need to bench bleed the clutch master cylinder, also. But bench bleeding the brake master worked because of the reservoir, which the clutch master doesn't have.

How do you bench bleed a clutch master cylinder on a car with a shared reservoir? I haven't been able to find anything. I want to do this by myself--I don't want to get anyone else involved.

So my 2016 (still going strong) got slightly clipped on a busy city street and the driver mirror was twisted such that the mounting plastic for it INSIDE the mirror "head" (not the mount on the door itself, but inside the housing for the mirror) got shredded. The housing is totally intact, though currently off. The mirror is dangling by the wiring harness from the mount on the door.

I called my local autobody and they're talking $700-$1,000 to replace it.

Do I have any much cheaper options? Like I said, the mount (and the screws) are still there in the door piece. The passenger mirror has a camera, but this doesn't. I'm unsure if this has heat, but it may as this is at least an EX (leather seats, sunroof, heated seats).

Thanks.

Battery question: CCA or charge?

Auto shop told me “The battery is starting to fail. It has only 336 CCA out of 450 CCA.”

So when I was at Les Schwab (LS) I asked them to replace it. The guy came back and said the battery was in good but it was just low on charge, 70%. Due to my intermittent no start issue, I haven’t driven my fit much for a month but I still turned it on everyday or every other day, making short trip around the neighborhood. I was very scared of this car stranding me at the store with a bunch of bags okay! But a month can push a battery down to 70% charge? He didn’t recommend changing it. I asked how to charge it and he said to drive it more. :-/ okay.

I have a hard time believing him cause A few years ago, I was also at Les Schwab and one of their tech told me my ex-battery was good. He didn’t say the charge. A week later my starter was replaced. And 2 weeks later, my car wouldn’t start. The weather wasn’t even cold.

so what matter? CCA or charge %? How do I determine if my battery would quack on me? I did ask him that and he says there no way of knowing.

Now thinking about that, it spin me into asking - if my battery has low CCA but LS see my battery good with low charge like those two times would I even be able to buy a new one with pro-rated warranty applied?

Honda says there is a way to change that. With the ignition turned on, and the car in park and/or the handbrake set, hold the Unlock portion of the button down for about ten seconds. You will hear three clicks - spread out a bit - and the setting will be changed. I did that twice, but the doors still don't unlock. Any ideas?

I live in Los Angeles. I brought a 2019 Honda Fit EX from Carmax last year. it came due for an oil change, no big deal I thought as I've been getting my cars oil changes for decades however this time was different in that the Honda Fit is the 1st car I've ever owned that requires full synthetic oil, all my other cars have used conventional oil. Synthetic oil cost more but as that's whats required I got it done at Pepboys. They used Pennzoil Platinum Premium Synthetic Oil OW-16.

Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic Motor Oil | Pennzoil®

On page 501 of the owners manual it says this

Quote:

 Genuine Honda Motor Oil
• Premium-grade 0W-16, 0W-20 detergent oil with an API Certification Seal on the
container.

However in doing some research there are those who day the 0W-16 AND 0W-20 weight is too thin and may not protect the engine as 5W-30. 0W-16/20 is supposed to be for better gas milage but I'm more concerned about protecting the engine from weat and tear. I'm confused so I'm putting it out there. JUST exactly what grade oil to use for a 2019 Honda Fit EX that is best for the engine?

I was one of the ones who got the bad White Orchid Pearl paint on my 2015 honda fit LX. I was able to get the re-paint right before the 7 year warranty was up, but they chose to only repaint the panels that were actively peeling... and then the other panels began to peel after that .

I'm mainly concerned with the hatchback door panel because it's peeling the most. But I have no idea where to shop around, or how much to expect to pay. Any advice? Los Angeles area here.

Over a hundred years ago, Henry Ford offered customers a choice: buy a black Model T or don't buy one.

I received an email from Honda promoting the hybrid Prelude. If you want it in blue, it will cost $455 more, while white will cost you an extra $655. I know that some ingredients in paint cost more than others, but there no way that the amount of white spray on a car costs $655 more. This is just another example of getting more money from the customer.

For over a hundred years, car manufacturers have been able to paint cars different colors. Now, different is going to cost you a lot more.
