2013 Honda Fit Engine Light Came On and Barely Goes Over 40 km/h Now
and it's all my fault because just the other day I was talking to my friends about how much I love my Fit and I'm going to drive it into the ground and how reliable it is. Yep, I jinxed it big time.
I was driving to work today and the engine light came on. I kept driving (I was going up a hill) and it wouldn't go over approx 40 km/h and clearly didn't have the ability to make it up the rest of the hill. I ended up having to drive in reverse going 15km/h all the way down the hill (too dangerous to do a three point turn in case someone came over the hill and what if the car stalled in the middle of the road!).
There was no engine sign flashing when in reverse. I then limped it on home, never going over 40 km/h. The engine light stayed on whenever I was moving forward.
My husband was going to try out code reader on it but can't find the dang thing of course. The battery has given me a bit of trouble on the coldest days this year and we bought a new one, so I asked my husband to switch them but I'm not hopeful that will do anything because if it was the battery the car just wouldn't start, correct?
Does anyone have any tips I can try? All fluids seem fine. We haven't checked filters (not sure if husband knows where to find them but I will guide him to the majesty of the internet where he can figure it out lol)
Thanks so much

My car is doing something similar. We replaced the coils but it is still having issues. Did anyone here ever figure out what was causing their engine lights to flash? I'm taking mine back in today and will update if they figure it out.
