Coil Problem- Mechanic Saying I Need a New Engine as It's Same Cost as Replacing Head
I'm not very mechanically inclined so please forgive me if none of this makes sense. A year ago we had a problem where the third coil blew out entirely in our 2013 Honda Fit (I think it took a spark plug with it but might be remembering wrong?)
Our local mechanic said they were able to get the coil replaced but if that doesn't hold, their only option would be to replace the entire engine as it costs as much as replacing the head (which he said would need to be done?) I LOVE my Fit! Love it to death. It sucks that this is happening, and that it's going to be thousands and thousands of dollars to fix but I'm going to do it. Does this sound right? We are in a small town and this is the only mechanic available. The car all of a sudden started making super loud noises when turning on and revving, so I'm worried that the coil is failing and we are going to need a new engine/head. I also worry that the replacement engine will have the same fricking problem as I now know that this was a semi common problem with this year of Fits. |
