Can a 3rd Gen Timing cover fit a 2nd Gen to add access port?
Can a 3rd Gen Timing cover fit a 2nd Gen to add access port?
Hey yall! It's my first post here. I'm a family mechanic who just bought a Honda Fit Sport 2008 MT 1.5. I already love the car but noticed she has a rattle/grind on cold starts, so I'm looking into doing the timing parts at 130k as well as looking into other things that can produce that starting noise, like the plate underneath the car and the gear vti or some name like that.
The first thing im working on researching is if my car has a removable panel covering the timing chain tensioner? Also looking into a ratcheting style tensioner. I have seen that one of the motors for the 3rd Gens have a super sweet access cover over the tensioner. I want to know if I can put that timing cover with port on my 2nd Gen 1.5 motor? Assuming they dont have one on the 2nd gens 1.5 I havent looked yet. Has anyone done this mod to the 1.5 to make it easier to swap the tensioner?
I did this to my nissan and had to cut and fabricate the access hole and it was pretty stressful but worked great still here 45k later.
