Bug Guts on my hood; I can't get clean - please Help

I have remnants of 'love bug' guts on my hood and have tried everything to get them off. Has anyone had luck with removing this cr@p from there car? Please let me know about different products that have worked and have not worked. I hope this thread will help us southern fits that deal with these f*ing bugs on a regular basis.

Claybar works wonders. But of course you will have to re-wax when you are done. Sometimes they are stubborn (we have many little buggers here also) and in some spots you may have to scrape the bigger "chunks" off with a fingernail first but usually the clay bar gets rid of them.

^yep... I used to have an NBP RSX and I would wash the car then clay-bar it and rewax car. It will remove waters spots, bug guts, sap, etc.

I've had luck with keeping the car wet for a while to ease getting bug guts off. Rinse the car like you're going to wash it and let it sit. Rewet it a couple times if needed to keep it wet for 30 minutes or more. When you go out to wash it, the bug guts should have softened up quite a bit. They don't call water the universal solvent for nothing.

no the BEST stuff is made by stoners. It's called THE TARMINATOR and it should be right next to stoners INVISIBLE GLASS. That stuff is soooooo good it will take off ANYTHING. I highly recommend any of the stoners brand stuff, including the MORE SHINE that really makes ur tires pop! I've been using all 3 products for over a year now on my fit and i swear i have the shiniest tires, the cleanest hood, and the clearest windows! =]

Thanks all for the suggestions I'll get both the tarminator and the clay bar. I'll do the hood 1/2 each and do a write up comparing them.

If that is the case then you shouldn't even be mentioning it here

On a tip from someone on this board, I started using Meguiar's Quik Detailer spray on bug splats as soon as I saw them. Works a treat; haven't found a bug that didn't wipe right off. However, familiar as I am with love bugs, I am happy that they are not common where I live; YMMV.

not always practical but if you just wash them off before they have too much time to set up, they come right off. People at work laugh at me cuz I come in after my 326 mile commute for my 3 day shift and wash my car before start time. I missed it one time and the bugs were left on for the next 5 days,,,VERY hard to remove....

Nothing will work better than the trusty ole claybar for me... And a good follow-up with whichever wax you like most. That should do the job!
