If anyone local is interested... I finally had my car looked at by a body shop... there is some severe frame damage on the driver's side that i didn't see... so i'm gonna have to say goodbye to my fit... my insurance is saying it's totaled...

Anyone want to buy a NEVER USED AEM CAI (still in the box!) for $230? You pick up cash only?...

Proceeds go to the Make Eileen Mobile Again Foundation lol. Send me a message on myspace... (yeah i'm a dork for myspace).

I know someone (me) who is selling a Silver '02 WRX Sportwagon. It has about 60k on the clock, and is in very nice shape. If you're interested, I'm ready to sell it for a fair price.

Im so sorry to hear the car is totalled, what a nightmare..I recomend an older Acura integra(97-01), they handle as well as the Fit and they are cheap, and more power! Anyway, Good luck!

there's hope!

I was going off of what this mechanic told me... it's rather expensive to go through him, an dI don't want to be driving her all over the place getting estimates. HOWEVER! a friend of mine just informed me that he can help me. He never really wanted to let me know he works on cars and loves imports because it gets him in trouble (driving record is GARBAGE). All he needs is a welder, but can I trust that?

ANYONE GOT A WELDER?!!

Eileen,

You appear to be walking off a cliff here. The damage that you described is severe enough to REQUIRE professional repairs. If you let amateurs "repair" your car, you will regret it. A professional welder would never be without his own equipment, and the same is true for an experienced amateur/hobbyist. A non-professional who has to borrow equipment will only make your problems worse, and make the car unsafe and unsellable.

Why would you even consider taking such chances if your insurance company considers the car damaged beyond repair? Obviously your insurer is not going to give you enough of a settlement to pay off your loan and give you the down payment on another new car, but you guarantee yourself a never-ending disaster if you let desperation push you into a do-it-yourself salvage attempt with amateurs.

+1 on that.

i had my fair share of salvaged title cars and it isnt worth the hastle since you know your car has gone through some rough and tumble it wouldnt drive the same and be the same. even though you repair it to look new it wont be under that bondo and paint.
