You can now buy the blank key fob on eBay. Just type in "Honda Fit Key Remote". You will see several for under $15.

UPDATE: I just got my flip remote... seems like decent quality (better than spend $100+ for the Acura mod). Swapped the internals took abot 10 minutes. Now I need to get the key cut at the dealer for $5.

Finally got this mod done last week, but still have to get the key cut, and the immobilizer programmed. I got the Acura key (35113-TL0-A10), and the RDX cover swap (35118-STK-A01). Swapped covers, and had the keyless programmed in less than 15 minutes. I only wish I bought the damn Acura key when it was ~ $27..

Thanks to all who figured this out for the GE8's.

Now come's the fun part of calling the dealers to get decent price on the cutting, most of the Honda dealers around here just love to overcharge.

I just called my dealer and they want $48.50 for cut and program. Not too bad IMO. Now to order the acura key and convince them that it will work so just STFU and take my money!

Alright all the links in this thread lead to outdated listings. Has anyone who own a GE8 successfully purchased a flip fob, transferred over the internals and had it cut at the dealership? How much did you spend on this project?

Also, what type of fob did you buy (actual TSX or eBay version)? I'm interested in doing this mod, but am also interested in hearing from some GE8 owners on the difficulty and hassle of the process.

Any input or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's not bad.... from reading other forums the rates are between $20 - $100+ for them to cut, and program the immobilizer.

I'd get the OEM TSX key and then do an RDX cover swap if I were you. Honda dealerships can be funny about using non OEM parts. And when I say OEM parts, leave them in the honda packaging and everything with the part numbers on them and what not. Key is $123.20 from bernardi. Cutting and programing is as FitStir said, "...between $20 - $100+..." so you're looking at anywhere from $140-$220ish for the complete swap. Definitely more of a "money blowing" mod but if that's what you want then go for it! I just like the flip key and the uniqueness that it adds to my Fit.

Finally got mine cut this past weekend. After calling 20+ Honda dealers (service dept) the best price I got was $49.95 + tax. Total $54.

^^^ EXACTLY!!!! A lot of the dealers in my area wont even cut the key unless you buy it from them directly. And forget about some of the quotes I've gotten.

My post right above yours has all the information you need for a GE8.

very helpful thread. I wanted to do this for me GE8 but it sucks that I cant find any tsx or tl flip keys for $40-$60. I guess it was cheaper back then.

Hey guys,

sorry to beat a dead horse but I want to make sure I do this right and not buy the wrong key. Will this key work for a 2013 fit sport?

Blade New Flip Switch Remote Key Fob Keyless for 2004 2007 Acura TSX 04 06 TL | eBay

thanks,
Josh

2nd time this thread has been helpful!

My cheap eBay aftermarket flip key mechanism wore out and broke, so I came back here and followed the steps again with an OEM Acura TL key. I ran into the same issues with stripped screws but otherwise it was pretty simple.

The immobilized chip was still good from the eBay key, so a quick session programming the remote and a few minutes getting the blade cut at the dealership, and I have a flip key now!

Thanks again DOM!
