I had my Fit for 4 months now and it's already got some paint chips! So I gave in and paid a pro to install VentureShield (supposedly better than 3M). Got the bumper, part of fender, hood and mirror wrapped for $800. My mom's GD already has nasty chipping all over in front a touch paint couldn't fix and I know mine will as well if I didn't have protection.

Wondering if I should just let the dealer do this for me, are the savings worth the trouble to go aftermarket?

I bought my 2011 Sport last Saturday and we just ordered the full 8 mil 3M kit for this car. Covers the front end bumper, a-pillars, hood, mirrors, roof leading edge, and top of rear bumper for $213. We purchased the light kit in 20 mil to cover the headlights and fogs. My buddy has done so many cars that he's professional grade when installing this film now. He even did my 2007 CBR600RR 2 years ago and it still looks perfect. You can't even see it unless your close up. Luckily, we help each other out with jobs around the cars and houses so he does it free of charge for me.

I've had it on all my cars, including our previous Honda Pilot. That cost me $700 to have someone else do the same coverage listed above. Well worth it out here in AZ, land of rocks.

This was the very first mod I did to my car. The installer actually covered my entire hood in one piece!
