It's probably just me.. (two issues)
 

Hey guys, my name's Jeff :wavey: and I just purchased a 2012 Honda Fit Sport (5sp Auto) w/ Navi for my wife. I really like the way it drives and the good fuel economy. I drive the most so I was the one that ended up using the car for commute instead while she drives the Camry.

1) Anyways, I've talked to several service advisors from three different dealerships. They told me that there isn't a regular service interval for oil changes on this car. They told me that Honda has equipped it with a "Maintenance Minder System" which automatically senses the amount of load vs RPM etc.. which calculates a very precise estimation of oil life.

Now, my Fit is pushing 7,XXX and the little maintenance light HAS NOT come on yet. They said it's normal. Now, I'm used to the traditional 3,000-mile oil changes. What are your thoughts? Doesn't that seem like an awefully long time before changing the oil?

2) Now the second issue is regarding a SLIGHT vehicle vibration when shifting into DRIVE or REVERSE. So, early in the morning, I always warm up my vehicles. I let the little "Blue C" disappear before driving. But I've noticed that when the vehicle is in PARK, it idles fine with no vibration. But when shifted to the aforementioned gears, it has a SLIGHT vibrating sensation while idling. Anyone else have this issue (if it even is an issue)? I just need to know if this is how the car is supposed to be normally or if it is an issue that needs to be addressed by the dealership for repairs.

Remember that pretty much on every vehicle on the road with the exception of classics and older cars 3000 mile oil changes are outdated completely. Even now there is a big movement to get that mindset changed.

Oil change businesses of course don't like it but it's a waste of money and resources on most vehicles. If you are worried send off a sample to Blackstone or another diagnostic company and they'll give you the straight scoop on the oil's life.

Members on here have verified that the maintenance minder is effective by sending oil samples to Blackstone labs for analysis while following the minder. If you follow the minder you will be fine. 7k-10k mile oil changes are not uncommon.

I can't comment on the vibration, I have a manual.

It's a normal behavior of an auto transmission, I believe. It's same as when you feel slight vibration when waiting at the light with the car in D and brake depressed vs leaving the car in N.
