Drum brake noise after replacing drums

Hi,

I recently replaced ONLY drums while changing wheels with CENTRIC Part # 12340009 C-TEK Standard Brake Drum from RockAuto.com

The noise :

I didnt initially clean the rear brakes at all. They were quite dirty. So I cleaned them with brake cleaner after driving a good 200kms in the city.

The are still noisy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks !

Chris

Did you adjust the shoes?

No is there a guide on how to do that or should I just put in a new set ?

There should be a star wheel that you turn to move the shoes in and out. If you just replaced the drum only, the shoes need to be pulled in, as they automatically adjust as the drum gets worn. Your new drum is not worn at all and the shoes are probably auto adjusted to the old worn drum.

IDK if that makes sense?

Should look something like this:

HowStuffWorks "How Drum Brakes Work"

Though I can't find a Fit specific picture.

Curious why replace drums and not the shoes? If anything shoes should be worn out first and drums could likely just be turned.
