2007 Fit mileage drop

My 2007 Honda Fit has recently seen a drop in mileage... I used to get 620km (387mi) per tank in summer at 90km/h (56mph) but now I get about 560km (350mi) under the same conditions. I have fresh oil, new air filter, new spark plugs and coil packs. Can anyone recommend other things to check as a possible cause for this? Driving style has been kept constant.

Check tyre pressures and, after driving, check you do not have a hot wheel. That could indicate a brake rubbing.

Check valve clearance, too. Do it NOW before you burn a valve.

:yeahthat:

Our Fit w 135K miles on it, just achieved 39 MPG on a 250 mile trip. <---incentive :p

Tires 36psi all around. No seized calipers or rubbing brakes

Hmmmm according to the owner's manual I should have done this 2-3 years ago but when I brought it to the shop they said there's no point. Also doesn't it cost $600-$1000 to do this? I'll have to read up on this issue

The valves in the 1.5L engines DO require periodic adjustment. :hyper:

I've done ours myself every 60K miles and several were out-of-spec each time. :thumbups:

It took me 2 - 3 hrs each time, but I'm an amateur. An independent Honda specialist could do it for you for a LOT less than a dealer.

When I paid an independent shop to do a valve adjustment on both my S2000 & my ex-wife's Fit, it was around $200 per car.
