safety issues regarding running an open downpipe

So I plan to run an open downpipe once my turbo setup is done. This is to try and keep the costs down as well as save weight. My question is, will it be safe? The fuel tank I think is very near the area where the downpipe would be. Would I blow myself up? :p

how far is your DP going to? last i remember the tank is in the back of the car...

if ur DP is going there anyways, why not just get them to weld a straight pipe all the way to the exit? mild steel piping at your local meineke + labor should be really cheap.

The Fits tank is under the driver and pass seat. I dont think you'll have any problems. BUT, Id suggest at least running enough piping to clear the tank just in case. At least pass the first bend and point the pipe out (still under the car) by the pass. side door.

Im sure you'll finish the exhaust. Open downpipe isnt all that fun. Not just the sound but fumes.
