auto to manual conversion

hey i am new here, if this is in the wrong spot move it please.

what i want to know and i tried searching is, has any one done or know how bad the auto to manual conversion is on a fit?? i want a fit for work and gas mileage and my lazy ass wants the auto, but a few years down the road i want to do a k swap after its paid off. how big of a problem will this swap be into an auto (in a few years)? thanks andy

Convert auto to manual ?????

Its way too much - and expensive - work. Just plan on trading for another Fit.

I agree with the above! However K swaps will be much cheaper within the next 4/5 years.

I got all the 5sp M/T parts needed for the swap to M/T!!!

1.) 5sp Manual Transmission L15A1 alone $700

2.) 5sp Clutch and pressure plate with 26K mi. $50

3.) 5sp flywheel $50

4.) 5sp Shifter cables $75

5.) 5sp shifter box $75

6.) 5Sp Engine Oil Pan (Needed for A/T to M/T swap) Seperate $50

7.) 5Sp axles $100

If you buy it all, instead of 1100, I'll make it a flat 1000 EVEN!

I was just wondering! Don't you need a manual fit ecu and the gauge's to do the auto to manual conversion? I was thinking about doing this and force inducting the L15. I do have a k20z3 engine sitting in the garage. I want to build that up and install it into the fit. But, I was also thinking about selling it to do a manual swap to my fit and getting the rotex sc or a turbo kit for the L15. I still don't know what I want to do yet. The manual swap with the s/c would be cheaper but the built k series would be kick ass. But, I have to keep in mind that this will be a daily driver. Oh well, we'll see!!!

It'd probably be a lot easier to get a MT Fit now and just deal with it until K-swap time comes around.

Just wait until your dealership gets the manual. Too much work to switch everything around later, gauges, wiring, center console, etc. Good luck!

Come on guys, it can't be all that hard to do. It's more or less the amount of time and money you have to invest into it! I've done a couple auto to manual swaps in civics and integra's and they were not that bad. Just takes some time and money.

just get trade in for a manual fit. you will kill the resale value of your essentially new fit.

AUTO to MANUAL???....why??? i mean, if you have a gold toilet seat and you blow your nose and wipe your ass with $100 bills then id say go for it...otherwise...dont bother, it would probably be cheaper to just trade your AUTO in for a MANUAL.

you will also need the brake and clutch pedal assemblies. about $80 new.
i'm not sure if you can run a MT on an AT ECU though. those go for about $400+ new.
