Some advice:

1. People who already bought short intakes, cold intakes, or whatever you want to call them, are going to have biased, unscientific test results of their new installs to justify the expense and time they put into it. That's just human nature. How many buyers of a new care ever told you they got a bad deal?

2. The physics to justify these products is not there. There are numerous sources of good information about these things. Don't visit the manufacturers site. Look at independent studies. "Cold-air intakes" and "high-flow air filter" FAQ - TDIClub Forums That thread has some links to good info.

3. If you're doing it for fun, the right sound, then by all means, have fun. Just understand what you're really doing.

I am thinking of getting a gruppe m intake but wanted to know if anyone has taken a honda jazz/fit 1.5l GD3 with either the mishimoto or gruppe m carbon fiber intake on a dyno for themselves and got any results? or has anyone tried both intakes and could tell me which is better?

I have seen the results posted for the mishimoto carbon fiber intake on a gd3 but don't really believe it delivers 8.3hp. (maybe I just don't understand how it works enough to believe it or maybe I underestimate the stock honda air intake snorkels potential)

The gruppe m to my understanding would be the most logical upgrade for performance as there is less chance of heat soak (could be some still from the radiator), having a natural air flow direction and keeping the ram as short as possible.

I am after the intake that delivers more performance... prices don't scare me

Just seen this one on ebay and decided to make my own heat shield made of stainless steel. This is to prevent the heat coming from the engine that can be absorb by the filter.

HKS super flow reloaded filter with steel piping.... air sucking is so damn loud..
so sad item is up for sale and i'll be getting Tsuchinoko FRP kit for my GD3.

Gimick. This would work if it produced 100 times more energy; and they're already out there. They're called belt-driven superchargers or exhaust gas driven turbo-superchargers. Now those actually work.

Homemade Myxal Intakes
 

These are all the intakes I've made and tested on my 2015 LX CVT Fit so far.
These are just ideas I've been testing by putting various pipes together to test some ideas I have. More will be added as ideas come through.

1) Stock intake setup,

2) HPS Intake Cone filter (2")--> Maf Sensor --> Throttle Body (Aka Myxal Filter on a Stick)

3) 2.5" S&B Cone air filter --> 2.5" straight pipe --> 90 degree 2.5" - 2" Reducer, --> Maf Sensor --> Throttle Body (Myxal Short Ram)
This setup will be angled towards the firewall with filter close to the firewall/transmission area. It is only a test!

4) Stock cold air inlet--> 3" flexible ducting --> 3" inlet to PRM air filter --> 90 degree 3" piping --> 90 degree 3" - 2.5" coupler --> 2.5" straight pipe --> 90 degree 2.5"-2" 90 degree silicone reducer --> Maf sensor-->Throttle Body.
Pic below is the general setup. The only part not connected is the ducting I have that will connect to the cold air inlet on the top part of the bumper. I have the piece but I have to perfect the discharge side of the PRM intake as it goes to the 180 piping. Once I get that right, it will be done.

Tested this 'track only' with a pantyhose intake to see what results I got. I call it the 'Myxal Vacuum Cleaner Intake'
Ran a 16.01@88.96mph. Gained 2.5mph on the topend at the dragstrip (Stock intake was 16.5@85mph, Stock intake modified was 16.3@86-86.5mph. The Myxal Vacuum Intake was averaging high 87mph's in the 1/4 mile. Try to remember this is an automatic, slow starting CVT transmission Fit running this time. This is close to older Fits with a 5psi supercharger and manual transmission, that run mid to high 15's in the 1/4 (Some in the low to mid 16's). Yeah, this intake works!

Myxal LOL Intake (Laugh Out Loud)
This is basically the Myxal Filter on a Stick with a ridiculously huge air filter (2.5" S&B air filter) on it. I did it for shi*s and giggles. Are there any intake air restrictions? Yeah right! Lol!

Here's the stock intake modified. Maf sensor bypassed. Gained .5 mph on topend at the drag strip. Air/fuel ratio's bumped up from 11.8:01 to 12.3-12.4:1. Still has stock air filter. The splash guard has been removed from underneath the cold air attachment on the front of the car.

PRM intake 90% complete. Need to make a cold-air attachment. The inlet is 3.5" and the exit is 3". This filter is HUGE compared to the PRM air filters used on the previous Fits. Still working on it (9/24/14)

Hey everyone! Im new here and learning more about my 2017 Fit. I wanted to see if anyone knew the answer to this question. Will a Intake system from a CRZ fit my GK 2017 Honda Fit. They look the same and i read somewhere that some parts will work for each of them. (Short throw kit, Intake) here is the intake system i found that i like the sound of, just wanted to see if anyone here had any information about it. Thanks!

That intake will probably fit the older Fits, but it won't fit on the GK without some modifications. The throttle body on the GK is towards the front, instead of the back.

anyone have a how-to on deleting the oem intake resonator chamber??

There are two bolts at the bottom of the resonator that need to be removed. Whole resonator unit and pipe will come out after that. Then just plug up the opening. I used a 2” rubber plumbing cap and a hose clamp.

If you want the least headache and easiest results, it won't make a huge difference in sound but still a tiny one, you can simply put strong duct-tape over the hole on the inside. The hardest part is just working fingers inside and lining it up so everything is flush and straight, but if you don't have huge hands shouldn't be big issue. Been running this way for months every time i've checked on it hasn't come loose at all, and it would have to work its way through stock air filter if it somehow did. I used a rather long probably 4 inch or so pieces just straight along top edge to block off the hole, black tape not that i ever see it but looks nicer and is easier to verify its sitting flush, isn't wrinkled up etc that way.
You do want to take the outer part resonator is attached to and filter box to do this, i wouldn't recommend trying to slide tape over said hole with no light, no room to work, but takes like 5 minutes if none of your bolts are too rusty.
