Injen Cold Air to Short Ram question

My buddy has the SP1511 Injen CAI, and we're planning on installing it this weekend. All the reports claim it converts to short ram but I just can't figure out how....!!!!

Use picture below for reference...
The pipe to the throttle body is 2.5".
The 2 bend rubber pipe has a 2.5" inlet at the top but a 2.75" outlet at the bottom to connect to the lower pipe.
Lower pipe has 2.75" inlet and outlet to connect to 2.75" filter....
SO how can it be converted to short ram if the first pipe is 2.5" and everything else is 2.75", not including the rubber pipe it is attached to for Cold air??????

I have searched and found no answer.
Thanks.

I guess I could get a coupler reducer from 2.5"-2.75" and connect the two pipes directly without the long rubber pipe, but there should be another way.

yeah it does convert.... not easily tho. If u want a short ram, u just install the first metal piece coming out from the intake and not the long rubber pipe. Voila, you have a short ram intake. If u want the cold air, u install the rubber piece and the second metal pipe. It seems like you can do it on the fly but u acutally can't, it requires the removal of the rubber hose. How do i know this? i've installed one on my friend's fit.

About the sizes, the 2.75" filter opening does fit snugly over the 2.5" metal piping nice and snug. Rubber flexes and that's what allows that .25" gap to shrink to fit the upper metal piping.

Cool, exactly the answer I was looking for. I hadn't gotten the screwdriver out yet to see how snug I could get the 2.75" filter around the 2.5" pipe.
Thanks!
