You can make just about anything work.. but I'd bet you'd need to do some modifications to make it work with an auto.
|
E Manage = stinky stinky
|
Certainly for our cars yes. I'd bet it's pretty good on any car that goes into closed loop at a set manifold pressure like the older honda ECUs. This new emissions bull is what's killing us.
|
E-manage aka E-mangle.
HKS is just about as much but not many people have HKS certified tuners around there area |
i'll just take the heat-shields.
|
are they carb legal ?
|
The heat shields are a good thing. Don't get me wrong, Trust and Greddy make quality components. I just don't like the fuel management solution provided in this kit assuming that it is the same configuration as the T1R kit.
I wold like to see, however, is one of these kits for the Fit; Honda Civic Turbo Specialties (TSI) R18 Extreme Turbo Kit at PRO Civic "The R18 Extreme Turbo Kit uses the new AEM F/IC unit for fuel management" |

Yeah, the problem with our cars and closed loop is that they're in it nearly ALL THE TIME. Seriously. Pretty much no matter what, if you're at less than 70% throttle, you're in closed loop. The ECU uses a wideband sensor to shoot for an AFR that is somewhere in the ballpark of 14.5-15.0 depending on load and RPM, which is WAY too lean for FI. You wanna be in the 12s as soon as you hit boost. The EMU can't control closed loop feedback, but the FIC can.
|
So how can Greddy sell their product if it causes so many problems? Do they have some kind of "work around" for the issue? What can you do to make the Greddy run right?
I don't have a kit yet but I got the go ahead from the Wife :)....What should I do: go with the HKS and the F/IC or save a few $$$ and go with the Greddy and hope for the best? |
I don't know if they have a "work around". They haven't published it if they do.
When making your decision, just remember that the type of failure that improper tuning causes is complete and catastrophic engine destruction. Have you priced a new L15 lately? They aren't cheap. You can skimp on a lot of things and get away with it. Cheap tires wear out faster, cheap paint peels, and cheap tuning makes things quickly and effectively disassemble themselves while you're on the highway. |
Does the F-CON IS cause the same closed loop problem as the e-mange?
