kwsc bypass valve
what would happen if you allowed the bypass valve to vent to the atmosphere while blocking off the end that goes into the intake, essentially creating a bov?

You can put a BOV on the kwsc but you must plug the hole in the intake. |

If you were to vent the bypass valve to atmosphere you basically turn it to a blow off valve.
The basic difference is that the bypass recirculates the are back in to system, as a blow off vents to the atmosphere. (There is more to the difference in terms of internal operation, but the job of venting air is the same) As far as what would happen if you were to direct it to the atmosphere, it will probably be a bit nosier, and maybe a slight decrease of fuel economy (I say maybe because I remember talking to Oscar Sr. about it, and I think I remember him saying that he say better fuel economy with a bypass, but I'm not 100% curtain if my memory serves me correctly or not) Also, if you were to do that, dust / particles potentially can get in through the bypass by the way it works, where as a blow off wouldn't. |
