kwsc bypass valve

what would happen if you allowed the bypass valve to vent to the atmosphere while blocking off the end that goes into the intake, essentially creating a bov?

dewthedew 01-09-2010 11:11 PM

Search is your friend..

You can put a BOV on the kwsc but you must plug the hole in the intake.

theFITMASTER 01-11-2010 09:50 PM

if u actually READ and understand my WHOLE post, it is clear that i want to KEEP the BYPASS VALVE, NOT get a BOV:mad:

did i not say i was blocking the hole?

i am totally insulted by your reply

WTF!!!

keepitpg 01-11-2010 09:57 PM

relax man. im pretty sure he wasnt trying to insult you.

theFITMASTER 01-11-2010 10:21 PM

so what do u think about his comment then?

I wasnt being rude or insulting I was just stating.

If you were to vent the bypass valve to atmosphere you basically turn it to a blow off valve.

The basic difference is that the bypass recirculates the are back in to system, as a blow off vents to the atmosphere. (There is more to the difference in terms of internal operation, but the job of venting air is the same)

As far as what would happen if you were to direct it to the atmosphere, it will probably be a bit nosier, and maybe a slight decrease of fuel economy (I say maybe because I remember talking to Oscar Sr. about it, and I think I remember him saying that he say better fuel economy with a bypass, but I'm not 100% curtain if my memory serves me correctly or not) Also, if you were to do that, dust / particles potentially can get in through the bypass by the way it works, where as a blow off wouldn't.

if u dont want to read my post that is fine with me

but reading it half assed and telling me to "look it up" (looking up the wrong thing) and rephrasing what i stated as fact as an appropriate response
is INSULTING

u may not be trying to be rude, but U R RUDE AND INSULTED me

u still dont understand my original post so please stop replying

bov VS dv?

I DO NOT WANT TO RUN A BOV
I KNOW YOU CAN RUN A BOV

I WANT TO CHANGE THE WAY THE DV OPERATES WITHOUT CHANGING IT

i will say it again so if u only read half, u may read the whole idea

i want to KEEP the DV, but make it work LIKE A DV
i repeat I DO NOT WANT TO INSTALL A BOV
i know U CAN INSTALL A BOV
I HAVE READ THAT STUPID POST THAT U KEEP REFERRING ME TO
I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE MY DV BY REPLACING IT WITH A BOV
I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DV AND A BOV
I KNOW HOW TO CONVERT THE DV SO IT ACTS LIKE A BOV

if u dont understand the question DONT POST

DEWTHEDEW, YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE QUESTION SO DO NOT TRY TO ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks, sort of

i didn't ask for the difference between a bov vs a dv

i know venting the dv converts it a bov, that is my whole point

looks like i asked questions when i already knew way more about the answer than the audience

to answer my own question

converting the dv to a bov by venting to atm (and OBVIOUSLY BLOCKING THE INTAKE) (sorry to be rude but i didnt mean to dew it:rolleyes:) will.....

- be louder
- be exposed to the nasties
- get worse fuel economy

i will enlighten now
if u left the dv working as is, the dv will divert pressurized air back into the intake
pressurizing creates heat
diverting this pressurized, heated air back into the intake and then repressurizing it again will cause even more heat
diverting hot air back into the intake is like having a warm air intake
warm air is less dense
less dense means less oxygen
less oxygen means less fuel will be burned
LESS FUEL BEING BURNED EQUALS BETTER GAS MILEAGE

we all know about cold air intakes

if hot, pressurized air is not getting diverted back into the system, the system will have to get fresh, colder non-pressurized air

the whole point is to increase horsepower by decreasing the air intake temperature (cold = dense= more oxygen = more fuel burned= more power)

the real tricky part is is that this only happens when the dv is well, diverting air, i.e. not under full throttle

my question is

can somebody intelligently add to the above?
