Help With Header Decision
ok I think i have gone through almost every header post on here
and i still can not make up my mind i just sold my h-fit axleback to a friend so i will be runing an oem set up for a while which header will work best now with oem and later with a catback if i got with a weapon r or a megan im deleting my car also? where as with someone like aspec you keep the cat? I live in chicago so im not to worried about cops looking around the car and emisions i think is not until next year. which makes the engine sound meanest (i kno its a small engine ha :)) any gas/burning smells, fumes, etc. and any cel issues thanks. and like i said i did search but a lot of this was not covered. |
the only header that deletes the cat is the weapon-r RACE header. all others are shortys
|
and of course the race header has the most gains...
anyone with the race header, any fuel/burn smell, cel light, decreased mpg |
If you are planning to stay with OE stuff downstream of the header it makes no sense to go with the race header. The gain over a shorty header will be minimal due to the amount of constriction behind the header. Not to mention the CEL/computer issues that can occur as a result of deleting the catalytic converter. And do you really want to have to remove your entire exhaust system once a year to pass emissions? You will be better off with a shorty header and an axleback to start, which you can supplement with a b-pipe later if it still isn't loud enough for you. Hope that helps.

Marko!! |
I used to have Mugen in my car but I swapped it with T1R. The T1R has noticeable more low end gains compare to Mugen. The T1R is not very cheap but something to consider.
Good luck. |
T1R! is great, just get it ceramic coated, or it will get very hot under the hood.
