oil for turbo
so i just ordered my greddy turbo kit and was wondering what kind of oil everyone is using or recommends. i use regular oil 5 30 but i think i might want to go synthetic for the turbo upgade.. let me know what you guys are using.

Royal purple 10-30
|
greddy and royal purple do not get along. a freind of mien blew 2 greddy turbos using royal purple. first one greddy replaced. second one they questioned, denied warrenty since he was using royal purple.
with a turbo, id recomend a 3k oil change. dont go byt he maintnance minder. and IMO, if your gonna chance teh oil every 3k , whats the point of synthetic? im gonna run regualr oil and make sure i do regualr oil changes. |
so no royal purple. what about moble 1? i can get that stuff at my work.
|
My car was the car used for the prototype and I've been using Castrol syntec 5-30 since I got the kit installed it's been running strong since.

Car's actually in the shop right now due to my tranny needing to be rebuilt. This is my 2nd time around rebuilding it... if you're planning on getting an LSD but use your car as a DD, I highly recommend you to NOT get the J's Racing LSD or any clutch type LSD for that matter. Though I love the traction of a full race LSD, it's not practical for me any longer. Clutch type LSDs will cost you up the Asssssss in expensive tranny/LSD fluid changes every 6 months and rebuilds.... I'm actually waiting for my M-Factory LSD to come in the mail so I can drop it off to the shop and they can swap it in for my J's (soon to be up for sale). As for 1/4mile times, I've actaully never been with the Fit. I just track and canyon. :D |
i was looking at the team m factory lsd. have u heard anything bad about that??? i dont mind changing fluids oftem but rebuilding the transmission...??? ouch!
|
The M-factory is a good choice for a DD. You just use regular Honda MTF and need to change the fluid every 2 years according to their website, although I'd recommend changing fluids more often if you do a lot of "spirited" driving.

go with motul, i've heard some good things about it with turbos
|
the normal Amsoil 10w40 should be fine. Motul is racing grade and can get expensive. Not to mention only a few people carry it. I currently use Eneos 0w-50, a little more expensive than Amsoil. Synthetic is the way to go.

way late but fits require 5w20... at least honda reccomended.... k swap or bust
|

I would only reccomend Motul 300V 10W30
i use that every 3-5000km..for some reason, they don't last as long as Motul 4100.... oh well...it's worth the money !! |
