Jazz with LPG fuel.
 

Now a year and more I use LPG (liquid petroleum gas,) in my car so I decided to bring photos.




Here is the tank of 42 liters who has only 85% fuel who means about 35 liters. My spare tire is gone.

This is the ECU of LPG. I can adjust the air/fuel ratio (but I do not) with my laptop.

Next to the lighter is the switch that can change the LPG or the gasoline. Also it is saws the amount of the LPG fuel.
Next to it at the right is a kit that saws the temp inside of car. Down and right is Volt meter, at his left (233) is exhaust temp and left is a LED that saws when the air-condition pump is activated.

I have a Jazz 1.3 idsi with a BRC LPG....

Anyway I run 450 km with 20 euro... but I haven't an original Jazz!!!

LPG - is that even an option for us in the United States?

I currently see fleet vehicles and taxicabs using compressed natural gas around New York City is that the same thing?

LPG = Liquefied Petroleum Gas = propane and/or butane and/or miscellaneous burnable stuff (mostly propane in the North America); easily compressed to liquid form (200psi) which makes it compact and transportable.

LNG = Liquefied Natural Gas = methane (in North America); requires extreme cold and/or pressure to liquefy, so not practical as a vehicle fuel.

CNG = Compressed Natural Gas = methane, compressed to 3600psi, which is practical, but as a gas not liquid requires more space -- so, shorter range for a given tank size, and currently most useful for purely urban fleets like taxis and buses. The Civic GX runs on CNG.

does this cost a lot of money to do?

Thanks a lot for helping to save the environment by using less dino fuel. I firmly believe LPG is the way of the future, most public transport here (3-wheel carriers, most taxis and buses) are already converting to LPG to save both cost and usage.

In the united states i would like to see ethanol (Alcohol) fuel used it would lower fuel prices. it would also stimulate the economy by putting money in farmers pockets (ethanol is made from agricultural byproducts) and if im not mistaken it burns cleaner.

In Greece (in my town) unleaded has 1.00€ (about 1.20$) per liter.
LPG has about 0,55€ but the density of LPG is lower than petrol so it need 15% more fuel. So the final cost of LPG is 0,63. in a few days I will post all the advance and disadvantage of PLG.

ADVANCES:
1) Lower price than petrol or diesel.
2) Stronger fuel tank (steel)
3) Double distance of oil change
4) Never or almost never change the sparks (almost zero exhaust emissions)
5) Never change the catalytic converter (almost zero exhaust emissions)
6) Lower noise of engine (personally I do not know to explain it)
7) More octane number (about 115) so if you increase the compression ratio you have more power.
8) Never change fuel filter and never run the fuel pump so no electricity loss.


DISADVANCES
1) Money to put the kit (if your car is not run LPG with his factory. I gave 1200€ on 01-2005).
2) No spare tyre sometimes. (If your car is not run LPG with his factory).
3) Because of lower density of LPG you have little lower power (0-100km/h 13sec at petrol and 14 sec at PLG) and lower run distance. But if you increase the compression ratio you have more power and the same or better run distance. If someone does not want to increase the compression he can increase the timing advance. (Personally I prefer the timing advance but until now I have not find any kit)

Hi I had my 2008 converted to LPG and all has been well.The Petrol gauge is another thing it drops down as if I was using petrol and has a hissy fit when it hits zero and then goes slowly back up. It must run off the computer not a float ??? Anybody got any idea how it works (I have a separate gauge for the LPG )
