Mtec Shift Spring Install?
Hey Guys,
I recently bought another fit and I wanted to get rid of the slop in the shifter. I'm going to install a Skunk2 short shifter and Torque Solutions bushings after work today. I also got an Mtec Shift Spring for my fit (https://mtecind.com/collections/shif...-fit-2007-2012) but I can't find directions on how to install this anywhere. I am assuming it's the same as the K20 where you remove the shifter housing and slide the spring in, but I want to know if anyone else has done it before I start taking things apart.:confused: |

Yeah, there are a few review posts about this upgrade helping with the sloppy stock shifter, but no installs. This is my first manual Honda, so I'm not as familiar.

Interesting, thought he went out of business but guess not. I worked with him on this by trying 2 of them before a finalized version about 4 years ago. It's relatively simple to do just get to the top of the transmission and pull the shifter cables off the shift selector then unbolt the shift selector from the trans. You will need to break the honda-bond seal then just separate the assembly and replace the spring with your new one. When putting the selector assembly back onto the trans make sure to seal it up again with honda-bond. You can get an idea from the K-series version of this (linked below) only you will have the one big spring and not two. You can also look up a parts schematic from any Honda OEM parts suppliers (online) to have a look at the shift selector. FYI it does nothing for "slop" it ups the resistance moving the shift lever from neutral to 1st and 4th to 5th or neutral to reverse. Once in 1st it will fall into 2nd then to 3rd then 4th with a very nice "glide", you will see what I mean once it is in there.
