RS emblem install on a 2012 Sport grill
I ordered the front RS emblem full knowing it would not fit properly on a 2012 Sport Grill. The backing itself cannot be used because of the difference in the honeycombed shape of the grill. It simply will not fit back there without some serious hacking. As well I recommend removing the grill for the install. On a 2012 Sport there is a scoop that directs air from the grill to the back of the engine bay where the air intake is. You are going to have to remove that and replace it after installing the emblem. It's only 4 screws super easy! Attachment 24074 My solution was to use squares of an old mouse pad I had laying around with a washer. I could have fabricated a new backing plate but the screws on the emblem itself are a a 45 degree angle. The mouse pad material should hold up for a good long while and it wont damage the grill. A bonus is that they do not block the air flow to the air scoop. Attachment 24075 I basically made some big rubber washers out of mouse pad material. Attachment 24076 And here is what it looks like installed. Attachment 24077 I love the way it looks!!! |
