2007 Honda Fit Turn Signal (light) switch replacement

Hello. I'm new to Fit Freak. My wife has an '07 Fit Sport, and the light switch has gone out. Turn signals, and hi beams work, but the low beams and the fog lights are MIA. I have already bought a replacement (but have since seen there has been a recall on this issue, oh well) and am trying to replace it, but it seems I am missing something in regards to getting the old switch out and the new one in. From the way it looks, I either need to remove a huge piece of the dashboard, or remove a large piece of the steering column. Has anyone on here done this? The part slides on horizontally to the dash, and the housing around the dash gets in the way of it coming all the way off. Am I missing something? I thought I was doing good buying the part for $25 bucks as opposed to spending $150+ to get the dealer to install it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm having the same issue

Did you ever find a way to access the switch to replace it?

I tried to get the switch replaced as part of the recall and the dealer said it was already done. This can't be the case because it is the factory switch is still on. I refuse to pay them to install a faulty part so I bought a replacement online and tried to replace it myself.

I'm now stuck at that same part you were stuck at. Do I need to take off the dash cover or dismantle the Any suggestions?

Same situation as previous posts. Shouldn't be that hard to get the old switch off. What's the trick? Anyone got an answer?

See the similar thread here. The short answer is that you will need to remove the steering wheel, the cable reel, and the combination switch. I have some instructions on pulling the steering wheel in my thread here.
