yah, considering how easy scangauges are to mount (i wouldn't even
call it a install ) you're probably right. plus i can use it on another car
too.

i started off with the Griot's 'master care package' so i decided to just
stick with the Griot's stuff. Griot's products are made failsafe for a
weekend detailer like me and very easy to use. not that im saying
Prima's polishes are not easy to use... just different.

I use to use Prima Epic (polymer) but found that the Prima Hydro is
just as good as far as protection and color. just does not have the
long term durability as Epic, but since i use to use Hydro after every
wash there was always nice protection on the paint. Hydro lasts about
a month. Epic looks good, almost as good as carnauba waxes... down
side are:

1. Durability. did not last any longer than Griot's carnauba
Best of Show (3+ months) in real world. my dd's are parked outside
24/7.

2. Applying. you can't apply Epic under 65F... you can but it is very
difficult to apply evenly and thin. it is also very difficult to see where
you applied while you're applying.

this is why I tried the Griot's Paint Sealant and im going to stick with
the Paint Sealant for now. the reflection hue is bluer than
carnauba, but being my car's a dd and silver im looking for more
reflectance than color depth. Griot's Paint Sealant delivers that.

plus, im going to coat it with Hydro after every other wash anyways
so should bring back the warmth as well.

 

so i went ahead and washed my dd's. the griot's PaintSealant obviously
made the wash very easy as contaminants came off effortlessly with
my MF wash mitt.

Prima Hydro was having a hard time attaching to the sealant ended up
in a light haze. Hydro rarely hazes...only in high humidity conditions.

so it looks like im going to be topping off with Griot's SprayOn wax instead
since i need to re-buff the car at the end anyways...and carnaua looks
more natural.

also my NEVERKINK hose kinked in 2 locations only after maybe 20-25
uses. i am very pissed off. so ended up ordering the Griot's 50ft
water hose this morn.

 

hey, my factory clutch pedal rubber cover has worn through.
wtf. need to order placements. only 6months. how many more of
these do i need to buy? lol!!

found my first shallo door ding this AM. no scratch, but it's a nice ding.

going to push it out hopefully tonight.

If the rubber keeps getting all messed up maybe its time to switch to some metal ones. Once mine start going thats my game plan atleast. I have heard from a couple other members that they dont last that long. I think that zeta has a decent set for a reasonable price if your interested. How many covers have you went through in total now?

jdjohnson- i bought my car early Dec 2007...so it only lasted me
6months. i think the snow boots i was wearing may have had
something to do with it. but yah, it might be wise to get some
metal ones down the road...

 

Yea my boots eat my pedals aswell. I have big feet anyway so that doesnt help either. haha. Good luck with the dent. I found anouther one today when i got back from the deployment. Its under the passenger door handle. Luckily no paint is scraped so i can just get it pulled out.

yah, for some reason i can stand minor scratches but i can't
stand dings.


my new Griot's water hose just came. will hook it up tonight.
that NeverKink hose sucks. i kinked in 2 places over the weekend and
it's still new.

 

ummm... i ordered two pedal covers and paid for two pedal covers yet the dealer only ordered one.

how can that be? they're ordering another one for me.


will swap my clutch pedal cover tonight.

 

the rubber clutch pedal cover swap took no more than literally 2min.
no tools needed. the rubber is soft so you can just pull them off with
your fingers and then wrap the new one over the metal. then touch
the backside of the pedal to verify that it wrapped all the way around.
done.

 

got my 'other' pedal cover today... will keep it in my spare box for next
summer. lol

 

so today i look left (west) a little and noticed that my neighbor's
neighbor's daughter got a white fit sport.

but it looks NOTHING like mine... lol i guess the mods have paid off.

 

ok, after some thought, i think my next mods are going to be below:

1) ambient temp gauge. it think im going to get the scangauge2.
2) aftermarket steering wheel.

some explanation on #2... unfortunately our pedals on our cars are
located very close to the driver like on the corolla's. this might be ok for
those of you with short legs but for me, it's too close. im not
that tall or big, hell, im kinda small (just a regular japanese guy) but my
legs are pretty long, yet my arms are pretty short. wat i need is the
steering wheel to be telescopic..and we know we don't have that.

im going to probably do the MOMO steering wheel and add both an
alignment hub and also an adapter to offset the steering wheel by
maybe 2" that should allow me to slide the seatback a few notches
and distance myself from the pedals. yah, i will loose the front airbag,
but then again we all know complications of airbags and it's a toss up
whether they do more good or harm, especially during lower-speed
frontal impacts. my commute is max 45mph, mostly 35-40.

3) im going to use my current wheels/tires as my winter set (although
the falken 912's are garbage as far as winter performance, ill use my
legacywgn on real snowy days) and get another set of wheels and
tires for the warmer months.
