Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there!!

My kids greeted me this am with a big smile and thank you.
Going to be pulling out my R in a little bit and enjoy my am.
I've not had a chance to try my new Sparco setup so I'm kinda excited.
Nice weather too!!

oh mang, the sparco gas pedal with custom spacers i installed on the R is PERFECT! sooo easy now to blip at moderate braking

im at 500 miles so i opened her up just a little bit. nice power and growl. car is fast as is, but can't wait to put the piggyback on her. the unit has been sitting on my workbench waiting for the 1000miles mark. should pull her up into the 360hp range 380ft/lbs torque at the crank. i expect to be doing 4.2sec to 60 probably mid 12's 1/4 mile. this is what you call a modern hot hatch.

to celebrate my day (father's day) i was waived to do house chores this pm so went out for a drive in my STI. was a great drive and i can safely say that the STI is a lot more fun to drive than the R. it's just a special car.

anyway, some dumbarse in a red sonic or some pos garbage slammed their brakes in front of me at a redlight camera intersection when the light turned yellow even though still plenty of time for them and me to go through. i had to swerve out of the way not to rear end the pos but that extra maneuver costed me a full second or so which may or may not have triggered the redlight camera to activate. really pissed me off. the tolerance we must have for stupid!

Since I'm off today, going to wash the GTI then take the R out for a spin during geezer hour.

Found a store selling Sparco pedals for super cheap so ordered a set for the spare pedal.

washed the GTI, applied fresh coat of Hydro, then went motoring in my R. QD'ed afterwards. uhh mang.. having the STI and R is like having the best of both worlds. the R is so relaxing to drive fast and no one bothers you cause everyone thinks its just another car.

although ive gotten plenty of compliments already from both men and ladies.

not much of an android fan these days but since i have 2 VW's in my line up and want to custom program some of the settings, i decided to order a OBD11 and a new cheapo samsung 7" wifi tablet to go with it.

few features i wanted to fully disable is the GTI's traction control.. even with ESC off im still getting the torque limiter which stumbles the car at times at WOT in 1st gear.. also want to reduce the soundactor volume a bit.. or disable it on both GTI and R. maybe do the valve on the R.

woot! got tracking number for both OBD11 and new galaxy tablet.

also got tracking number for the spare sparco pedal... only thing pending is the oem pedal assembly.. got a bag of screws and nuts from mcmaster-carr aka guy's candy store.

one of my buddies at work is probably getting the R after seeing mine. he wants me to make him the same pedal setup for his MT R.
now is a good time to get the R or GTI cause VW's coming out with a refresh for 2018. which i really didnt care for.

Man I leave this thread for a few weeks and you go and buy a New Golf-R?! Sweet ride. I've been driving a friends Audi A4 Avant quattro hes selling...trying to make it happen haha. It'd be a perfect car for me if it was manual but they didn't offer in manual.

Tablet? Changing the VW multimedia OS?

The avant I'm testing is a 2011 with the B&O stereo. Kinda underwhelming stereo to be honest...thought it would have an equalizer or something but only generic "bass" and "treble" control.

Also no bluetooth audio/music. Sure I can make/take calls...but no music.

Check out obdeleven (obd11) which is a vag-com alternative which works off android. It allows various programming for vw cars where only dealers can program using vag-com.. one can program at home. I just decided to get a tablet for this cause I no longer have an android device.

Hummm that Audi sounds dated in the infotainment area.... what yr is this? The fender audio in my autobahn GTI and R is very good!!

https://obdeleven.com

Scroll down for the coding and programming. Not just a obd2 scanner.

Looks like both the obd11 and Sparco set are arriving today.

Its a 2011. I figured out the bluetooth audio. And the B&O system sounds considerably better with digital media vs the radio.

Still on the fence about it, dont want to make the seller wait much longer...plus Fit hasn't stirred up any interest. No point going in without that sold.

Man...how big is your garage? If I count correctly....you have at LEAST 4 cars, GK, GTi, R, Sti....swear there was a Z in there too haha.
